Correct. So is the 328 and 325. Pretty much any recent (E36+) NA and non-M 3-Series lands in D Stock. I think the 318 is in H. Common competition includes Integra Type R, some Audis and VWs.

The 335 is in F Stock. Camaros and Mustangs are your primary prey.

OK, to better answer the original question (that's what I get for starting on the last page), go here and download the rulebook:

http://scca.com/Solo/Index.asp?IdS=198F60-6345A30&x=050|070&~=

Don't forget there are other options now, such as Street Touring and Street Modified.

You know what they say, "borrowed cars are faster". I had a chance to drive a 2000 Mustang Cobra R last weekend. What a hoot!

Here are the results they just posted. My boyfriend came in 40 out of 79 cars and this was the first time he drove my car. There were more STIs and EVOs there than I have ever seen in my life lol.

Summit Point Raceway @ WV.

the video was a 2 yrs old. the section cut short (black flagged) b/c there's a boxster spun and and stuck off track (if you look close, a lap or two before it ends, you'll see a boxster parked on the right side of the track.

when I got back to the pit, the turbo driver came over and ask what did I do to the car 'cos it's fast! I causally told him, it's bone stock engine, just brakes and suspension! and he just ran away silently.....

you can tell I LOVE to run w/ PCA!!

So is the 330i eligible for Street Touring since its wheel width is larger than the maximum of 7.5"?

I ran STS last year "under the radar" until I found out recently as I was reading the rule book about the 7.5" width rule. I believe it would be STU class.
I'm running a buddy's WRX this year, though so I haven't pushed the STS/STU issue yet.

Hmm, well if I get those 18" staggered CSL reps then I will be in STU?

Yes, the CSLs of that size would push you to STU.

Here's a good read if you already have not read it.
http://www.alaskascca.com/drupal/dow...7SoloRules.pdf

See page 82 for the STU wheel info.

What do you have on your car that keeps you from staying is stock class?
It would be better to use your stock wheels or get some cheap 17" or 18" non-staggered and stay in stock class (DS) and you can still run DOT R-compund tires. Especially if you club uses the PAX factor for overall standings.

We don't want R compounds and there is a mazdaspeed 3 in that class with race tires where we race that's ridiculously fast so we wouldn't have a chance.

Well I'm on the hunt right now. I'm looking for some nice 18" x 9.0 all around that aren't too expensive. I think that will still put me in STU.

She can't get 17s or a non staggered setup in DS without eliminating everything else in the sports package. Check this out if you haven't yet. http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/File/2007SoloRules.pdf

Oops! Your right. What was I thinking. My car came with 17" stock, I was intermixing tire/wheel packages between both cars. Thanks for the clarification for others to see.

Here's my borrowed autocross ride from last weekend

How was the car out at willow ?

I can't wait to get out there.
Tracked my S4s there many times.

Want the LSD in first though.

Having had the M3, how did the 335i feel on track being a One Legger ?

I was both surprised and impressed by the 335i. Having come from an M3 I expected the car to be way undersprung for the track. While it is too soft for a steady diet of track work it’s a fair compromise given the ride on my commute (I sold the M3 due to my 23k miles/year). Having said that, I really missed the M3 at Willow. The M3 is just alive and much better with the M LSD. In general, track handling is far more responsive. What really impressed me though was the N54. The M3s had nothing on me on the ½ mile straight or coming out of corners. Given the car’s versatility I was very happy.

I did have some engine issues which forced me into the pits after about 15-16mins of virtually every session. My car experienced limp mode many times but it WAS NOT oil temp related (excess coolant temp..?). My car is at the shop for the 4th day while they trouble shoot the cause. I will keep you guys posted what happened when I know more.
