wastegate rattle - covered under CPO?
Thought it was the exhaust valve but after unplugging the vacuum solenoid and revving up to around 3000rpm with the door open, you can clearly hear the rattle as it drops to idle.
So my question is has anybody here in Canada gotten their turbos replaced while on CPO? And if so, can I take it to another dealership to have the work done since I don't particularly like my dealership? |

They will only replace the wastegates.
On the early years 07-08 they are replacable without removing the turbos. 09+ they are one unit with the turbo. And dont go in there and say that you hear a rattle. Go in there and tell them "wastegates need to be replaced. I already had the software updated and it made things worse. Have it looked at before it causes futher problems and it costs you guys more money!" <-- so say this and get yourself a non rattling 335 |

I had the wastegate actuators replaced under CPO warranty at Maranello. The rattling noise is gone while driving, and drastically reduced when revving from idle. Since the noise is not entirely gone, I might still try to adjust the actuator linkage myself.

^^^ I wouldn't recommend tampering with the actuactor linkages unless you can be sure that when you do so, you can without leaving marks on it for BMW to notice that you have been tinkering around with it yourself.
If you only had the actuators replaced and the rattling is still there, continue to go back and complain, as you will hope they will take the next step, which is to replace the whole turbo unit. More info from local members in this thread, and my own personal turbo replacement experience under CPO in post #82: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=731772&page=4 |

Tibor at Maranello for the win! He is really knowledgeable about this problem and explained everything that they changed to help prevent this problem. I had both turbos and oil cooler replaced on my 09 335.
