Delete Resonator?

Hi guys,

I bought a MMW muffler off another member on this forum and I was wondering whether you guys would recommend deleting the resonator or keeping it on when I get it installed. The muffler is v1 I believe if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I would start off with just the rear section, if thats not loud enough then delete the res. It would take a muffler shop no time at all. Now keep in mind the MMW muffler was made to replicate the performance exhaust which had the res deleted. So its your call, keep in mind u could go that route and delete the res when u install the muffler and if u dont like it you can always weld it back in or they can fab up some sort of high flor magnaflow res or something.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll probably leave it on for now and see how I like it.

I'm running the resonator delete & I'd advice against it.

in the past, I had the Eisenmann SR pipe + Eisenmann race rear muffler. Then I pulled out the Eisenmann SR pipe, sold it Route 16 here, put back the stock pipe, deleted the resonator for the loudness.

Even though my car gets quite a bit louder, but I can tell I lose some backpressure & therefore horsepower.
My car isn't as responsive as a friend's stock 325i.

I'm about to buy the Eisenmann SR pipe & slap it on again.

my $0.02

I have a resonator delete with my Remus Powersound Muffler. The muffler sounds good without the resonator, makes a pop here and there but it creates some drone. I don't know about the responsiveness like speedfan said but that could be true now that I think of it. My friend who also just got a 330i is extremely quiet inside with the resonator, a silence that I've missed lol but the car doesn't feel alive..too quiet. As soon as I get my MMW headers I'm throwing the resonator back on along with quads.

After the sr pipe I went with 3inch piping for the midpipes, IMO I think the exhaust velocity is too slow compared to stock and eisenmann pipes. And I do plan to reinstall the sr pipes after a few dynos just to see which is better. Eisenmann left their resonator on for a reason. I'd imagine they've done their R&D to justify that.
