Guys with black vinyl roof overlays....
i see plenty of pics but no close ups of how these installers are dealing with the strip on either side that the ski rack access panels pop up...any close up shots?? TIA... considering doing this and obviously want it perfect as well as not being a fan of it unless its done from outer edge to outer edge!!

looks good.... is it 1 piece because in that 1 pic it looked like it had a seam?? My thing is i would want the 2 outer strips down as well and cut around the ski rack access points...

-start with a large single piece of vinyl enough to cover the entire roof (doesn't need to be exact, but the closer the better). -spray and apply front of the car---> back -cutout shark fin area -apply vinyl around shark fin area *After applying the whole overlay the adhesive began to back off the rubber moldings along the sides. At that point i made cuts in between the molding and tucked the vinyl underneath. Finally I cut the slots for the rack. Take your time and be patient, I can't stress this enough. You'll probably be re-aligning the piece since its so large, make sure to have extra bottles of soapy water. Best of luck. |

I want to do my roof but the shark fin looks out of place unless it's the same color as the roof.

I mean, I did it. It's just much harder than doing vinyl trims/roof since it has many more compound curves. Vinyl is cheap though and after a couple tries, it came out flawless. The other option is to get a shark fin cover but that defeated my purpose of saving money

I have said this before but the weather here in NorCal isn't cooperating, if it is clear Sat, I will get a good detailing of the car done and put up mine here.
