2010 X5 in 'Low Car' Eurotunnel

Morning Chaps (and ladies)

So i will be taking the x5 over the channel this weekend. Internet has told me the x5 will clear the 1.85M limit on the low car carriage. The x5 is 1.78M according to google but does this include the roof racks that come as standard?

Any advice on any issues i may face taking the X5 on the low car carriage will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Forgive me for stating the obvious but why don't you just measure it yourself? It'd be the best way to confirm it surely!

Drive to any Multi-Story car park, Drive up to overhead barrier, check clearance and compare with board measurement!

Just go in the tall vehicle carriage. I always do even with my 330 and then my 640 as there are no tracks to damage the alloy wheels.

Don't panic. They will put you in the tall carriage anyway.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Update:
Outbound train clearance on the low carriage pic below. The gap on the other side is the same so IMO the low carriage is not suitable for wider cars..sure you probably won't curb the wheels as the curb is quite small but there was a M5 in front of me bouncing off the edges, quite unpleasant to watch & HEAR!

Inbound i changed my carriage to the higher one. Way more space and less stressful. Noticed saloons and coupes in there too so it looks like a popular choice for those that dont fancy ruining their wheels!

High Carriage FTW

Yep that why I suggested booking the higher clearance carriage. If you are unlucky enough to be directed to the upper deck then there is a possibility of clipping the stone kerb things that they have at the beginning of the carriage.

Just phone them before hand and amend your booking free of charge.

Be careful on the day as they will try and get you into the queue for regular vehicles but stay in the line for tall vehicles and show them your booking confirmation that should state that you have booked the tall vehicle carriage.
