Defrost vent ?????

Well I have traced a creak/popping noise to the defrost vent on the opposite side of the gauge cluster hump. Before I try and take it out, so I can try some felt, can they be removed or are they glued in somehow. Please use this link if you do not know what I am refering to!

Its # 15 and 16 in the drawing !

I don't believe that they are glues at all. I believe they just snap in. Just be careful because the plastic gets brittle over time and can crack if you bend it.
