Car Insurance!!!
Its nearly time to renew my car insurance and I am starting to get quotes and its really annoying! Why is it soooo expensive!!? Im 26, 2 years no claims, 3 points i got in dec 2007 (so dont need to declare them now). Postcode (probably the worst bit) is BD7, car kept on the street and no mods, probably worth about 7-8k Im getting stupid prices like 1.5-2k and thats with an excess of 3k!!!!!! with a reasonable excess of 500ish its still about 2k!! Tried the usual - confused, moneysupermarket, gocompare etc etc but can n e one recommend a good broker that can arrange for some reasonable insurance for <1k? Urfan

Try Aviva. I got 2 months free which got me down from 800 to around 650.
I think they give away 12 weeks free now

Aside from that, 99% of insurers ask if you have any offences in the last 5 years which is not related to the 4 years DVLA limit, so you'll still have to tell them up until Dec 2012!! We live in a REFER area (M21) its crap - thats why mine is £1200 and rising. (39yrs / full ncb / no bumps or offences) |

You can do just as much damage with a 7k car as you can a 50k one. Snow, insurance companies investments not making upi the usual shortfall, the "my neck hurts" brigade, and "I need a ferrari whilst my fiesta is being fixed" have all resulted in premiums going up. |

I'm 23 and I only pay £550 with MoreThan, 2 years no claims and no convictions etc.
Swiftcover recently quoted me £500 so next time i'm switching to them. I think it must be the post code or the speeding! Both post codes I use are in the lowest risk band. |

Our house was supposed to be BD13. The boundary was then changed and it became BD6, which sent all insurance sky high. Too many bad postcodes in Bradford unfortunately. We are hoping to move to a more favourable post code in the very near future.

I'm not sure how much difference it makes, but from an old Top Gear episode they reported that Occupation also had quite an impact on the premium. "Journalist" was seen as a high-risk group, so Jeremy got cheaper quotes by saying he was a Doctor. I reality it's perhaps not such a good idea to lie, but perhaps it explains why some of us pay more (or less) than others.

Man I feel priviledged.
Last time I insured the 335 it was like 500 quid and I was 25.

We're moving to rural Staffordshire this year, I've already done some quotes - my insurance will be 1/3rd of what it is in Manchester! Can't wait to get away from all these scumbags! |
