SWS-8xi installation issue
2010 335xi -- just took out the stock underseats, but I can't figure out how to remove the subwoofer from the enclosure. DIY mentioned torx, but I don't see them... Any ideas?
Seats are completely out. Please help |

You look to be two clips (on top) away from getting at the screws:

It appears to be clipped in. I can see the tounge and slot on one side with clip on the opposite. Must have been a design change for 2010...hopefully the screw locations exist for you underneath.

Doing my 2011 335 as soon as I can get a harness from Technic and some drivers from Focal, but haven't had it open yet.
I'll try to take a look tonight if nobody has an answer for you by then. |

You will have to pry them pretty hard to remove them, and once you do they will be pretty much useless to put them back in. |

Thanks for the help Technic. You're 100% correct.
Would you recommend doing this, or is there somewhere I can buy the correct enclosure? RealOEM has some stuff, but I want to make sure I'm getting exactly the right part... |

I always thought the 1 series was the only one that had 6.5" woofers
Cheap bastards! |

What I normally do is remove the woofer and throw it away, then install the aftermarket midbass. If you ever sell the car just install a cheap 6.5" driver in there of no more of 2.2" deep with a spacer. |

Once you've removed the old speaker, what do you use to hold down the new one? Tap four screws, washers, glue, etc?
I'm thinking about putting some Dynamat down on the inside of the enclosure... Any other pointers? |
