What do these VO attributes do?

I was watching a video of someone coding another person's E92 FRM3 in order to retrofit LCI headlights. They added #0310 and removed #0307 to the VO, changing the build date.

But they also added $5AK and -ONSW to the VO. Does anyone know what these two attributes do?

5AK is for LED LIGHTING ELEMENT.

Not sure about the other. Also, you don't need to change date for FRM3...

+1

ONSW is for retrofitting a heater...

Code:
K ONSW OHNE_NEBELSW //Nachrüstung Nachrüstung Standheizung - Deaktivierung NSW

Somebody told me changing the date gives constant power to the LED coronas rather than pulse power. Are you saying $5AK does that?

maybe he needed to change the date for ncs to read the frm as frm3 since those didn't exist in '07 builds.

hopefully he didn't write it in on the cas/frm since that might affect the other modules (ie. mulf becoming mulf2)

FRM3 will work with ncsexpert without date change. Only FRM2 requires changing date.

I don't know about constant power. PWM is fine and protects your bulb life. Why would you want constant power?

If you want brighter coronas simply code a new voltage and then set the PWM parameter to whatever you created...

It's not about brightness... you know E92 LCI uses led modules for DRLs right? Pre lci uses a halogen bulb, hence pulse power. Well, that causes LCI headlights to flicker. That's why you need clean power. Seems like there are a lot of conflicting opinions on this.

I thought about it but I don't know nearly enough about coding. All I really know is what I've shared. A few people who did the retrofit changed their build dates to 03/2010 or newer and claimed the flickering stopped. I've only recently seen the $5AK, and googling "BMW $5AK" comes up with more E92 LCI pictures than "BMW E92 LCI".

What you said earlier, about writing on the cas/frm... kind of worries me because it complicates things further beyond my understanding
