Engine Malfunction 2x in last 2600 miles. Should I be worried?

My car had 43.5K miles when I got the first Engine Malfunction sign. It was SIB 11.01.08 (defective intake camshaft ledge).

This weekend, I got another Engine Malfunction (46K miles). This time it was SIB 11.02.08 (defective solinoid valves).

Should I be worried that as soon as the warranty is gone (50K miles), my car will have problems again? Are the two issues related? I'm not even sure what the intake camshaft ledge or solinoid valves are.

anyone have had both problems before? Have you had any other issues show up after?

Thanks in advance.

Had the same problem this week. Both are related check out this web page it while help you understand the problem. http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B110208g.htm

From what I was told the pieces were redesigned and the problem should not happen again.

Thanks! I read your post about it. Didn't realize they were related problems. Any other related problems besides these two? I was afraid it was fuel pump related.

Since the '07 is the first year of the N54, don't be surprised if your car needs the following updated parts in the coming miles:

Wastegates/turbos,
Fuel Injectors.
Ignition Coils.

The good news is that after the replacement of the intake and exhaust VANOS solenoids, those fault codes did not return. The better news is that after my car was fixed with the above parts at 88K miles - with the exception of the crap -881 HPFP - my car has not had any engine driveability issues in the past 40K miles.

Thanks Bcube! That's what I was wondering. Now those other 3 issues you mentioned, did they all happen out of warranty? How much did it cost you? I want to prepare myself if I decide to keep this car.

Cost me $50. I had the BMW extended warranty. There was a bunch of other work done, but that was more specific to my car than to 2007s in general, so I haven't mentioned it. But turbo/wastegates, Vanos solenoids, injectors, ignition coils, seem to be a common thread with the '07's
