I was informed by AA that they only have a 3-stage manifold tuned file for the 325 at this time, no 328 yet. Can you take the actual ECU from a 330, have AA tune it then drop it in your 325/328? Rather than modding the current ECU?

No, they have different ECUs. The 330/325 has an MSV70 while the 328 has an MSV80. You need the software or ECU from a Z4 30i, X5 30i, or X3 30i.

Wow really?

I was told many times that they can do it for the 328 (including employess at AA). This would be bad for use 328 users if they can't do it.

Maybe someone from AA can chime in here and confirm.

I know a z4 30i got a tune done for there car, along with a 5 30i as well.

anyone have a picture of what these adjuster units look like, and where they are located in relation to the manifold? I found a scrap car but will have to remove the manifold/parts myself, not really sure what I'm looking for.

I did but honestly not sure what I'm looking for. Is it physically attached to the manifold so when I remove the manifold both adjusters will come with it?

Yes they're screwed into it. You see that box on the side of the manifold with the wire coming out of it? That's one of them. There's one on the other side underneath the runners. That one is smaller. 2.5L N52s have a 2-stage manifold with just one adjuster.

Although they haven't physically done this mod on a 328, they said it shouldnt be a problem for them to tweak the file to get the same amount of power with the cars with the 330 manifold tune.

I will be in the process of installing this in the next few weeks so I can get my flash.

Thanks for your help Marcello. I took it off the car this morning, I saw one big box on one side of the manifold will have to look more carefully on the other side. So looks like I just need a gasket, new bolts, and the breather tube and I'm good to go!

Tested and proven it works with gains between 25-50hp. Search for three stage intake in this section and you'll see a thread with dyno graphs.

Been reading through these manifold posts for months and finally created an account this morning. Hi-way Auto Parts in TX had a 3-stage manifold with all the trimmings from a '09 Z4 3.0si. I began the install myself, but chickened out after removing everything up to the actual manifold. After re-assembly, a nearby shop took care of it, and didn't even need the most expensive hose from the parts list. Manifold was $350, installation was around $400. There is a dyno about 45min away at The Boost Creep Ltd, and I am debating when to get it done... before or after AA software.

The other posts are correct(sorry to be repetitive) about AA not having the provisions for the 3-stage manifold on the 328. They do not even have a time frame for this as they said the software is encrypted completely different than 325/330 MSV70. Anyone care to chime in about the timing of a dyno tune at $85 a pop?

From what I've seen on these boards, the current 328i tune from AA works with the 3-stage. It might not necessarily be designed for it, but it works.

Stage 2 will be vanos lift, and I would hope they'd have an 'all-in' tune that takes the manifold into account, but I'm not sure where they stand on that

Nice....I think I want to do this to my car before I replace my current AA tune with the new one coming out.
