Full Detail on my 2009 E92 BMW 335i XDrive Coupe
Hey,
So as many of you know Timmay Fest is coming up and with that I needed to do a full detail on my car. Now this is my first time doing a full detail on my car and I didn't really take many before pictures or during pictures but the main reason I am writing this is just to share the products I used because I had a lot of trouble finding good quality products and figuring out which ones were using marketing that wasn't as good as the products. I bought a lot of Griots Garage products in the winter and then I started moving up to some higher end products like 1Z, Sonax and Adams. All of the non Griots products that I have I bought from Phil at Detailers Domain who has excellent customer service and is there when I would be outside working on detailing at 10pm at night for me to email him and ask him questions. Definitely recommended. So here is a basic outline of what I did to my car and pictures will be shown at the end. Firstly I cleaned the engine using a Swissvax lug brush with Adams all purpose cleaner diluted 75%. and then a spray bottle of water to rinse it down with. Cover the alternator. I cleaned all of the door jams before the wash to prevent overspray with the Swissvax lug brush and Adams All Purpose Cleaner diluted 75%. The wheels where cleaned up with Sonax and an EZ Detail Brush and also a Swissvax lug brush which I use to clean all of the spokes on the wheel. Once they were cleaned I used Wheel Wax (Which Is the brand) to seal the wheels. I used Adams All Purpose Cleaner to clean up the tires and the wheel wheels. I used a basic wheel well brush bought from Oriellys auto parts and a tire brush with stiff bristles bought from Griots Garage. For the wash I used the 2 bucket method with grit guards in each bucket and 2 wash mitts from Griots Garage. One was used for the upper half and the other for the bottom half. To get any bugs off of the front of the car I used Adams all purpose cleaner and a slightly textured wash sponge from Armor All. I also used a basic terry cloth towels to get where the paint meets the wheel well which gets very dirty. To dry I used a Griots Garage drying towel with pockets in it to give better grip. I then started to clay. I used Griots Garage Clay Bar with speed shine. For polishing I used the Griots Random Orbital with Griots Orange Pads and Griots Machine Polish 2 and 3. To remove polish I used Uber Microfiber towels and Griots Polish Removal Cloths. For Waxing I used Griots Garage best of show wax. I let it dry and then I applied another coat to increase depth and gloss. I removed the wax with Griots Microfiber Wax removal cloths and Uber Microfiber towels for the final wipe down. In order to remove the wax easier I use the Griots Spray On wax in order to soften the hardened wax. For the interior I vacuumed out the whole car and then I went on to cleaning. I used 1Z cockpit cleaner and did all of the plastic and vinyl surfaces on the car. I used lexol leather cleaner to clean the leather and then the conditioner to follow. I used Stoners invisible glass in order to clean the glass and mirrors. In the outside sun photos I hadn't cleaned the glass yet I know I probably missed something in the writeup but hope you guys enjoyed the writeup and the photos. Thanks, |

Yeah I have laser shifters on my car. They are the escort zr4s.
I am in Cleveland. Join BMW CCA. If you want to go to a leisurely car event go to cleveland cars and coffee. If you google it all of the info will come up. Timmay Fest is tomorrow which is a huge BMW gathering in Columbus. If by some chance you can make it come out and join everyone. If you need any more info just let me know. Thanks. |
