Rotary on something as soft as the wood trim and given since he said he's new to this. Nope pass on the buffer OP.

Seriously any mild polish like ScracthX 2.0, MEgs ultimate polish etc. OTC in US cheap and effective on soft surfaces. Do tape off like the above suggests.
