Could be something as simple as a miss-connected wire, but it sounds like you will need to visit the dealer (or have the BAV tool) to have the new battery registered to the car.

Search the forum and you'll see what I'm taking about.

This is about as easy a piece of maintenance as there is, so what could be wrong?

Battery was not sufficiently charged prior to install. Check with multimeter.

Loose or missed connection. Recheck your work.

Blown fusible link. This is some sort of fuse that cuts your battery out in the event of a significant accident. Don't know how this could be blown, unless...

You hooked it up backwards... Always possible, and if so, you may have burned up all sorts of electronic gizmos.

Another potential problem is if you disconnected the positive terminals first, and they flopped around and touched anything that was grounded out to the chassis, you may have fried a fuse or a component.

Failure to register the battery will not cause this problem, it only affects the longevity of the battery secondary to improper charging.

If it is not the first two, it sounds like something probably fried, and maybe a bit of expertise is required.

could be something to do with car computer... i had mine coded last night and this happned. So it could be that you reset the computer and its back to the older firmware/software and the guages are not moving cuz it needs the newer software...

Ill check the fuses when I'm out of work, I disconnected the negative first and put a sick over it. If no fuses are bad ill have it scanned. I hope it didn't revert back to old software. Any way any idea what fuses to check ? Thanks

If it's not a fuse than it could be one of your sensors that went bad, has your car been running rough or has the idle been jumping around before the battery died?

By the way do you take short trips a lot?

$250ish part. Replace yourself, dealer will be more than double that. New ibs sensor has been redesigned.

Get your battery registered thou so this doesnt happen again

Yea I plan on the register thing. Funny thing is, is that it did the same thing with the old battery in to. It wasnt just from the new battery
