Nothing stops Christmas time and New Years...
Do you guys really think that a multi million dollar factory stops all production because it's Christmas or New years??!!
No it doesn't.
And this is coming directly from the Manager of my local Bmw dealership.

I would think major labor factories do shut down on christmas and new years,

they take weeks of vacation throughout the year. I know that. so y would they work on the holidays?

Part of me says i hope they work...mostly i think let them take the hoiday off and spend it with the fam. i can wait an extra day or 2 if a worker can spend a special time with the fam

I ordered 11-25-06. My car has been scheduled for prodution with no confirmed production date since 12-10-06. I believe I'm victim of dealer allocation because today the dealer said its a week 2 build.

my car has been on order since 12-15, and it is still on order (not in production)

I have to think that the plant has been on break over the holidays. I had the most recent allocation slot for my E92 (supposed to be going in production within a few days of ordering).

I guess it will go into produciton as of the first week of the new year. Instead of a late January delivery, Im now looking at mid Feb... Dissapointing, but I can live with it...

I have a week 52 production which is this week and it's being built as we speak.
The status was " sent to production" since about the 10th of December and was still like that before the weekend. My Salesman called me today and told me that it has already started being built and should be done by the end of this week.
So again nothing stops during the holidays...

BMW NA (the 800 number) now reports my car "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel". (See order & production details below.)

Unless our cars made it on the Patriot that left the port today then our future can be told through this graph. If we didn't get on the Patriot hopefully we will make the Taipan.

Hmmmm....

For giggles and grins, I went to the Wallenius web site and started poking in my full VIN. When I selected "Auto Cargo" and put it in, I got a display with the following info:

Status | Port | Time(dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
LOADED ON VESSEL | NEW YORK, NY | 27/12/2006 09:00
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL | NEW YORK, NY | 26/12/2006 09:00
BOOKED | NEW YORK, NY | 14/12/2006 09:00

Please forgive my hacked attempts at trying to replicate a table.

Now, I'd like to believe that the PORT column indicates the DESTINATION port, not the current location.

If this is true, they reserved the slot on the 14th (which was prior to build!), they got the car on Tuesday 12/26 (which makes sense, given that it was completed on Thu 12/22 and takes a bit of time to get there), and was loaded onto the Patriot on Wed 12/27!! Woo-hoo!!!

According to the info on the voyage (EB652-PAT), the boat left Bremerhaven yesterday, and is due in NY (after intermediate stops) on January 8.

The 800 number is telling me that BMW's cars are WAY better than its integration of its customer-facing systems!

800 still says "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel".

Well, I checked and she is on her way. Probably chatting with MBrowns 335 about all the great roads they will hit in the US. She was loaded on the Patriot yesterday and will head to Charleston, SC after they drop off MBrowns car in NY. ETA at port: 1/12/07

Glad to see the image you posted. Yours lists Charleston, SC where mine lists "New York". I was a little concerned when I saw "booked...", "received...", and "loaded..." referencing NEW YORK, rather than Bremerhaven, but your display confirms that it's DESTINATION port, not origin.

We're on the Patriot, too!
FWIW, 800# and Owner's Circle still report "awaiting a shipping vessel".
