M3 Ordering (California/West Coast)
Hello!!
Originally I want to order another 335i, but considering mod money and all i think it *might* make sense to get an M3 instead. I got a couple of questions for you guys, but i dont really expect anyone to know at this point, but an educated guess might do 1. Is there ANY dealer in california, or maybe Vegas area selling M3 at MSRP? 2. Any dealer with a short wait list? 3. Anyone wants to give up his M3 wait list spot for some reason? 4. What do you expect MF and residual to be on the car? I'd be willing to pay 1k or less for 36 months based on 12k miles a year and no or minimal down payment... |

this is some basic math, very primitive and inaccurate but this is what's going on in my head.
if i sell m-tech for 1000, wheels for 3k, procede for like 700 or 900, and save money on lip 500, coilovers 1500, tires 1000 (save that money by not buying) then i am getting 5k in cash, and saving 3k right. Then let's say i find a dealer that's willing to give me M3 for MSRP (60k - 63k), and let's say residual is 50% (should be higher) + interest (that's the big unknown factor) that will result in me paying 60% of the car's MSRP in 3 years, right? which is 40k+/- 40k/36 months = 1100 per month on M3. If i put 4 or 5k cash as MSD or down payment, then that will reduce my payments to 1k or less. i think it makes sense to me. im assuming things here coz i have no info... but if this were the case M3 sounds feasible. what u guys think? |

Although... if I could write it off as a business expense, I'd be all over it.

Wow that's sweet, you're in Cali. and your house is 1k/mo. Ours are like 4X that out East, guess we're contributing to the bad economy by borrowing so much money. Then we pay the high taxes and we don't even have kids yet, sometimes I wonder WTF are we even thinking with our jumbo mortgages and BMW's?

i thought it was the right statement?
coz i just sold my 335i, and im thinking of getting a 2nd one that's not the first one so that makes it "another" but that might imply that im going to be having 2 which is not accurate and now im starting to see your point |

The markup doesn't surprise me, but imho it's foolish unless you have 10k that you don't care about. I have officemates who do have that cash (a guy on the other side bought a Quattroporte last weekend). For me, I remember my aunt bought the E46 M3 at list, and that was the 2nd year it was out. Just think, today, they can't give a M5 away, it's like 7-8k off list and 3 on the lot. When it came out, same thing, 10k over list. That 10k is pure premium, so unless you've got a lot of cash that you need to burn, it's a good idea to let the dust settle imho.
