No way, I just had one in the exact same area, it is in the side wall support. I don't think even a no name tire repair place would repair that one and you would not want them to.

Not sure about the RFT (though I would try it on my own car). In any case, that is too close to the sidewall. Looks like a new tire for you.

+1 I wouldn't risk it...but if you bought the tire insurance, just have the dealership replace it. Unfortunately, most (if not all) will not replace both front tires, so they will wear unevenly...if you're concerned about that.

Go to an authorized Bridgestone dealer and see what they say.

Officially: No repairs permitted on Run Flat Tires. Tires can be sent to Bridgestone to be reviewed under a form of X-ray inspection to see if it can be repaired. If you're going to go through that hassel, might as well as replace the tire (the car sits on jacks while you wait for the results? )
Un-official: No plug. If it is to be repaired, it must be patched from the inside. In your case, as everyone has said, it looks way to close to the side for any type of repair. Never give the tire to someone that hasn't worked on runflats before. You don't want to be the guinea pig for the shop.

THE ONLY THING IS ONCE A RUN FLAT IS PATCHED, IT BECOMES A "NON RUN FLAT". NOT BAD, BUT BETTER THAN BUYING A NEW TIRE (IT WAS 5 WEEKS OLD)! |

I bought the wheel and tire insurance from the dealer for a measly $500. Replaces wheel or tire, no deductible.

I'm in the same boat as OP. I was denied by a tire shop for them to patch it. I was wondering how you were able to patch yours. Did you do it yourself? Thanks

anyway, they simply use a needle nose plier to remove the screw, they then used the "pointy tool thing" to open the hole, they then proceeded to plug the hole. i reset my flat tire management, and VOILA! |
