So now what?

Not only am I new to this forum but am new to BMW, and that means I'm new to ordering BMWs. The process seems quite vague. I've placed an order for my coupe Jan 8. Agreed on a price. Today I found out that I have a "production date" of Mar 10. What exactly does this mean? I'm cautiously happy that this is a good thing.....true? Does this mean that I am now joining the masses of calendar-watching BMW junkies trying to figure out ways to manipulate the time-space continuum?

Yeah now you get to wait for 3-4 months! Its long and very painful, but a few tips to help overcome the never ending wait would be these....

1.) Get a picture of your car and set it to your background
2.) become a member at bimmerfest.com and every other great forum to help waste time in the office or after hours.
3.) Your car will be on your mind all the time. just be mentally prepared to handle that!

I'm sure other posters will have more tips to add to mine also...

I don't want to rain on your parade. But if you production isn't til March you probably won't get your car til April or May. This is from my experience in ordering a e92 335.

Ordered 09/15
Started Production 10/09
Delieverd (picked up at dealership) 11/16

Thats a short timeline of my car.

That just means your build slot is picked from the pool and is lined up to go through the production process (i.e. Status 112). What's next, well the actual production process followed by transport and then final delivery. Of course I miss the many detailed steps in between but you get the idea. I'd expect delivery closer to the end of April if you're on the east coast and there were no delays in getting on the boat (crucial) and VPC processing. GL.
