I just put new wheels and tires (non run flat) on mine. I think on road trips I will likely keep one of the wheel/tires that I just took off in the car. Wouldn't hurt to keep something like a fix a flat though in the car just in case.

I don't have anything except roadside assistance sadly.
I had someone at the dealer tell me that an e46 Doughnut spare would work and it's small? Can't remember for sure. |

Both my cars have the BMW M-Mobility kit and a tire-plugging kit. No spare/jack/tools; thus far (4+ years on E92, 1 year on E88) no problems!

I bought the spare donut/jack/tire tote kit from a 5 series. It's just piece of mind, I guess. I haven't really had flats in a while.

I always carry a small repair kit that includes a 12v air compressor and slime. We can clean the slime out of the tire once we get it to our shop... but be careful, some places won't do this.
Lately though I have been relaxing my stance against runflats as the latest generation RFTs are getting much better. |

I'm carrying the OEM donut spare. It takes up some space, but the e90 is not my only vehicle. Big cargo jobs are left to the XC70 or Sienna. Details about the spare can be found in this thread from the other forum:

I keep a fix a flat kit in the trunk all the time. If I am traveling out of town, I throw the spare tire and tools in. Takes up a ton of space but I can still fit a set of golf clubs and a couple bags.

AAA and BMW CCA member, I will let them take care of it.
Won't slime/fix-a-flat ruin TPMS sensors?

Plug kit and an air compressor, thats all you need. I will repair a normal flat tire faster than it takes to install a spare tire.

I don't get all of this runflat hysteria. I like my conti runflats, I like the stiffness of the ride, but most of all I like the security of knowing I can drive on a flat tire. If you are worried enough about wanting a spare tire, seems to me that is enough reason to stick with the run flats.

Even with runflats, I always carry my roadside emergency kit with me (probably just a habit from non-RFT cars). Includes a can of fix-a-flat, as well as a portable tire compressor, amongst other things. Planning on switching to non-RFTs soon, so nothing will change.
