Here is some background on the OSG.

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6058

This diff has 20 clutch plates (10 on each side). The average clutch diff has maybe 4 per side

Also attached is a pic showing how the clutch plates on the TCD are precision machined with oil holes throughout. This actually turns the diff into an oil pump which circulates the oil through the diff and also retains oil on the clutch plates for quiet operation even when cold.

TCD is a higher end and more expensive version of the Superlock

An article comparing some other diffs with the Superlock.

http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/whats-diff/

The part numbers for the e92 335 are as follows:

BM531-HC _TCD
BM531-HA _Super Lock

Bump for an awesome diff and a reliable seller. OSG is probably the best one you can get.

LSD before any power mods, IMO. #1 upgrade for the 335, street or track.

Here is the thread Vac did ..however, I know a couple of other members who had builds later than April 2007 and were bolted. These arent firm cut-off dates

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=56

The only way to be sure is to look at the number on top of your pumpkin and shoot it to Vac or diffsonline.com..

2200 seems kind of expensive though...recently been searching and found out somewhere that it is 2000 brand new. either way i would still rather buy a used gear type because of the money it would save me.

this lsd is definitely one of the best though and if i were to track the car more often this is the lsd i would go with also.

I highly doubt that was a TCD for $2000..that is most likely the Superlock. (Refer to the first post for the part#s on each) I think $2200 for brand new TCD w/ the gear oil (additional $150) is very fair..That said I am open to reasonable offers.

The cheapest I have found the TCD is here for $2556, the TCD is not stocked in US and only built to order from Japan

http://www.spruellmotorsport.com/bmw...0a-p-2480.html

There is no comparison between a gear type LSD and this one..thx for your interest

+1. I can confirm, as someone who did a bit of homework on this bad boy...only the TCD discs (that can be ordered separately) that can be used for a TCD conversion of a Superlock are $700+shipping.

GTR community is very fond of this LSD.

Too bad my diff casing is small. You don't want to know how much I was quoted for the small version of this (BM235-HC) in Canada. Insane!

...still looking for a reasonable solution, please advise if you sell it in the mean time.

Thx for chimin in SilverEmu..its always good to have independent confirmation..

Just the luck..the one guy who has showed solid interest isnt able to use this one..I can only imagine how much the TCD for your smaller pumpkin costs

The TCD has each clutch plate machined with channels and holes which allow the clutch plates to retain and circulate oil. The result is smoother and quicker operation without any noise, even when cold. The racing crowd has also discovered the TCD produces faster lap times than the Superlock

Hopefully by the end of the week I can say it's mine and en-route to the install shop I chose.
