Exhuast 130i Vs 335i

Love the standard exhaust sound of my 130i and want to know how different it is to 335i as thinking about getting one.

It's a very different proposition the x35i to the x30i sound wise.

I had an 06 E90 330i, and it did indeed sound great, but it is mainly resonant induction noise (not exhaust) on the 330i that you hear from within the car - that great sound you only get with a N/A engine.

Passers by hear the exhaust of course, but the driver mainly hears the induction, especially at higher revs. Tailpipe soundwise the 330i and 335i sound very similare to a passer by IMO.

The 335i has NO induction noise as it's a silenced turbo intake, instead it has a tuned growly exhaust note which TBH was a let down for me at first.

Now I love it, but you need to take a test drive to see.

Just to balance the debate - from the inside, the 130i is the best sounding BMW this side of an M car

I would agree, and that's what the OP has already, so the only way is down really.

I think I've mostly forgotten how good the x30i N52 engine sounds, it was a shock when the 335i arrived though.

Interesting - I have a couple of friends with 130's (indeed I was going to get one until I ended up in this crazy mileage job and wanted something a bit bigger and auto). I think they sound superb inside and took it for granted than my 330 would sound as good - which it doesn't. It has a nice note at higher revs but is too muted.

I prefer induction roar to exhaust noise as it tends only to be noticeable when accelerating, not all the time.
