Hello

There are 4 Factories currently building E90

1) Munich Germany
2) Regensburg Germany
3) Leipzig Germany
4) Rosslyn South Africa

Munich also builds the E91 Touring

Yes, we have been building BMW's for many many years, even for the USA market.

BMW South Africa has consistantly won the Internal BMW quality award for the last 5 to 6 years. Australia reported 80% less defects when they started receiving E46 3 Series from here instead of Germany.

The build 325i here for the USA

yep, and zero defects (as i expected) on my e90.

not that my old german factory built e36 and e46 had build defects.

The 7th to last char in your VIN will tell you where it was built.
I don't know if there has been a new chart posted to decode the VIN.
My 7th to last char is P, I think someone said that is Regensburg.

Our 2002 325i is a South African car, and it has been the most reliable BMW we've ever owned (8 so far, plus the E90). I've been very happy with the quality, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another SA car.

Also, our X3 is made in Austria, and it has been very reliable and trouble free other than a bunch of squeaks that seem to be normal with early X3s.

The South Africa plant actually grades out slightly better than the Munich plant for reliability.

Yep the Rosslyn plant is well supported due to the fact that South Africa is often used as a base for exports into other markets as well.
