I agree the PPK does change sound of the exhaust. It's a bit louder than stock.

Ok. Just dropped my car at the dealer. I'm excited to get it back today with the ppk installed. Just worried about the sound being too much. I guess I can just reverse the golf t mod and lessen the sound.....but I probably won't

Something sounds fishy, as BMW should be able to tell by your VIN if your car is eligible for PPK or not. I thought that for 2011/N55 cars, the only requirement was to have the sport or M-sport package with the increased top speed limiter.

Call the guys at Global who did mine last week and they should be able to verify this through your VIN. They also matched United's price, so no problem there, either.

Contact Colin in parts:

Colin.Blackledge@atlantabmw.com

and my CA, Garland Helton, who ran all this down for me:

Garland.Helton@atlantabmw.com
^ Awesome! I just called and talked to a John at Atlanta BMW. He was extremely helpful - but it's so ODD to me that different dealerships give you different information. I thought this was common with Ford, Chevy, Honda or those of the like and I had a HORRIBLE experience with Infiniti for my G35 Coupe - so I just stopped going to them and starting going to Forged Performance (highly recommend for Atl guys btw - for imports).

Anyways, John checked my last 7 digits of my VIN and told me this: "Wait until November, b/c your car is able to getthe PPK I or II upgrade, but the program upgrade for my late model 2011 LCI will "bump out" the iPod/iPhone integration and I def don't want that! He said that BMW is going to release an updated program for the PPK for 2011 late models where it will install the PPK and keep the iPod/iPhone intergration.

YIPPIE!!!!!!

I asked about the oil cooler and he said that unless you are going to push the car hard (like a track day) then it's really not necessary.

I'll keep everyone updated as to what John says when I call him back in a couple weeks.

Thanks Guys!

I got the email for this today, which is funny because I was the first one they upgraded. Overall, a positive experience for a fair price.

For those in the Florida Panhandle, Quality Imports in Ft. Walton is installing stage one in my 2009. The price quote was 740 (599 plus 140 labor) and will give me 15% discount for BMW CCA so 629 plus tax.

No thanks but I'll pass as well.
I was told by the dealer that my car 2008 335i requires additional part for another $200 so version 2 would be $1400 and the labor would be $1080 and they need the car for two days. I'm interested only because of the additional cooling (aux water cooler) and to keep my warranty. I'd rather not pay that much to the dealer and go the after market route, i'm familiar with some of the after market parts available but not the one you mentioned, just looking for all the horsepower i can get without the warranty aggravation, i've had performance cars in the past that i modified right out of the showroom but then fought hard to get warranty work done.

If you plan on tracking your car, extra cooling is always a good thing. However, if you do not plan on tracking, you will be ok with stage 1 provided your car has the sport pkg with the oil cooling

^ Well he asked for my last 7 digits of my VIN and looked it up and then came back with the: "You'll be fine without ANY oil cooler - as long as you don't plan on tracking your car". My car is not a "Sport" variant of any sort and I verified by looking at the passenger wheel well that I do NOT have the BMW Oil Cooler.

I would think if he looked up my VIN and didn't say: "Nope, sorry your car doesn't have the BMW Oil Cooler, we'll have to install that to even for Stg 1", that I'm fine...

Any .02's on this guys???

I guess I can always get it installed and keep a close eye on my oil temp via ODBII port and "Dash Command" app on my iPhone...

If it starts to run high - I can always go in and get an oil cooler installed - no??? Any thoughts?

Let me know what everyone thinks?

Thanks Guys!

you could get a cooler installed but that will cost some dollars as its not cheap. You might want to talk to the service manager to see how they would handle warranty work if your car runs hot. Last thing you need is for someone to tell you that ppk should never have been installed and the only way to solve the problem is to uninstall the software and then you're out the money for the ppk. You might even want to try contacting BMWNA to ask about this.

^ Good point.

I'll talk with them about this BEFORE I have the PPK installed, just to make certain!

just got mine for $712 out the door, parts, labor, tax. those who got CCA discounts are lucky. my SA said there is no discount on top of an already heavily discounted part.

its a nice upgrade. the car seems more responsive. i'm a keep my warranty safe kind of guy, so it was worth it for me.

i got two stickers, one under the hood, and one in the door jamb. the one on the door says to replace spark plugs at 45K.

Anyone with the 6MT Get the Power Kit?

I have an 07 E92 with the 6 speed manual. I know the torque increase with a manual is supposedly less than the auto....anyone with a stick get the upgrade yet? Is there much of a noticeable increase? Debating if its worth the upgrade.

I have a 6MT and this kit and posted my review a few pages back. In a nut shell, I think this is a nice but subtle addition. It's not competitively priced, so "worth it" is a tough call, but given the factory warranty/support and pleasing although moderate gains, with the benefit of hindsight I think it was worth it.
