What is under the black plastic liner in the trunk?
Thinking of removing it and putting an amp there. Would it be worth it? How much extra clearance does it give? I guess I could just remove the dozen or so nuts, but it's cold in my garage.

No shat? I see some people with amps in that spot and the floor is only 1/8" higher than the stock floor. There appears to be NO WAY my amp is going in there and barely raising the stock floor, and my amp is smaller than theirs. What gives?!?

There's no room there.
I run 2 smaller amps for the fronts & subs. They are mounted in the LHS rear compartment where a factory amp would live and the other next to the BlueTooth module under the boot cover behind the rear seats.

Amp has to have a small footprint to fit in between the ridges, and/or be no more than 2" high. I believe Alpine PDX fits, or JL XD. I know Kenwood XR-4S fits for sure. There may also be a larger space more forward, behind the "hinge" in the floor panel, on the left side, if you do not have bluetooth.

My XD400/4 was too tall to fit "behind the hinge" as you put it. It caused the floor piece to sit on top of it. If fits in the area at the very rear of the car, though I did shave off a tab from the tub so I could place it in the middle. Also, I'm begining to suspect that my amplifier noise is location related, so check that before doing anything permanent.
We are talking about a 335 right? Because The 328 has a bigger tub. |

I do have the Sirius unit, so that's a no go. Looks like I'm going to have to scrap my design or get a different amp.

is that confirmed that the alpine pdx fits in a space near the back of the boot under the hinge? Or is it when the black plastic bit is (not the deep round compartment) just to the left of it.
Just that ive just purchased a pdx f4 but havent decided on where to locate.

335 have a smaller compartment than NA cars because of the exhaust. My car has a small tray area to the left and a deeper bin to the right, probably about 8 or 9 inches deep.
