Rim Protection

Hi,

What is the rim protection like on the falken 452s and vredestein sessantas please?

I need to ring the garage pretty much today... but can live until tomorrow and get one of these ordered in for the weekend, but i'm just having some concerns over reports about rim protection.

I have just had a search on here, and read a thread about going one size up i.e. 265/30/19 and 235/35/19 on the Falkens in order to get a bit of a wider fit, what are peoples options on this tack?

Any & all views much appreciated

cheers!

The rim protection on the Vreds is far more pronounced than that on the 452's,in fact the rim protection is pretty much non existent on the 452's.

Falkens do not do a 255/30/19 which is one reason why people upsize to a 265/30/19,and do the same on the fronts (235/35/19).
The other reason for the upsizing is due to Alpina upsizing on the same marque from BMW,I'm not sure this is still the case though.

I've found that by going down the route of upsizing you often find that the tyres work out slightly cheaper than OEM sizes despite the larger size.

I've recently changed my rear tyres from Falkens to Vreds (couldn't get Falkens owing to the Tsunami), and I'll be changing to Vreds in the long term as I find the Vreds a superior tyre, albeit slightly more expensive.

Camskill are usually best for both Falkens and Vreds imo, although it's worth a search.

I'm struggling to find Vreds if i'm honest, and they would be my preferred option.

For clarity, do you run stock sizes (for 19s) or up one size for the vreds?

Ty.

Ty.
I've always upsized (235/35/19 -265/30/19) be it Falkens or Vreds, although I run 275/30/19 on my current wheels which are not OEM.

I would also upsize on OEM wheels.

I just noticed Camskill are out of stock of both upsized tyres, doh!

Your in Farnborough, try Micheldever tyres (by the station - 01962 774437) ,great outfit and will pricematch Camskill, alternatively Bracknell Tyres and Batteries (01344 411323), ask for Dave and mention Pistonheads for extra discount (I'm being serious).

Will bell them back again tomorrow and see if they can beat it as i know they are a lot less busy on a Saturday morning.
