Its pretty common in the US to have both.

Hey, not sure if your doing it already but next time you gas up, reset your mpg and 0 out your miles. Don't reset again until your next fill up. Its hard to believe your getting a true 18-21mpg city and 30 mpg highway. Im saying this because I get like 30mpg on highway too but that's only temporary.

MPG Drops way down soon as traffic slows or I exit the highway. If I reset it before I gas up cause now im on the streets, it will give me 18-21mpg as well. To find out real consumption, don't reset till next fill up and divide amount of miles driven by amount of gas consumed. That will give us the true MPG. For instance, lets say you get roughly 280 miles mixed driving out of a full tank or 15.5 gallons cause know one drives till its completely empty. Then divide 280 miles by 15.5 gallons = 18mpg. which sounds more realistic to me.

Please do me this favor b/c if your getting 30pmg which is roughly 465 miles out of 15.5 gallons then something is terribly wrong with my car and I will schedule service immediately. Im really trying to determine how many miles you get out of a full tank. Thanks in advance. Sorry for jacking thread. As mentioned in previous post im only getting roughly 180 miles out of a full tank with 100% stop n go city traffic. Any other IS owners willing to chime in on this would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like 17-20 is the city MPG range and 25-30 is the highway MPG range. Everyone agree? Assuming you're not on the gas alot.

That is exactly what the pic shows. It was reset to ---- when fueled then pic was taken after 10 days right before the numbers were zeroed out again after a refuel. I do that every time I refuel. That particular block was all inside Raleigh City limits except for a run to Cary NC, about 20 miles round trip, to get the 100 octane.

Since I mix 93/100 octane I always try to refuel at about 1/4 tank to get the mix I want. Been doing that since new & after break-in its always been within 1 or 2 miles per gallon if the conditions are the same. Car does not see much highway but a trip to Jersey & back with a few days of local driving in Spring Lake NJ netted IIRC about 29mpg for roughly 1000 miles. I drive at +10 over the road.

Worse mileage recorded is during beta testing of the JB4 when it can dip as low as 17.5mpg. This generally in tales a number of back to back WOT runs through the gears to create a log. Then based on the log changes are made to the settings & more runs are made.

Car is in the dealers for state emissions inspection & battery cable recall till tomorrow. Will try to get some stock measurements with straight 93 before I put the JB4 back in.

This pic is at 4000 miles, red box was showing the hijacked boost gauge to someone.

I will get somewhere around 300 miles on a full tank if I drive all city. I reset it every time I fill up.

No bad for city, thats ~20MPG assuming you didn't run all 15.5 gallons down. Anyone else?

I get 19-20 with 60% highway and 40% city..

If you're going to nickel and dime MPG and not going to flog it consistently this isn't the car for you.. Better off with a 328i coupe

25 - 30 MPG highway ? Hell Naa ! If someone is getting this they are turtling it for sure like an old lady.

I get 20 MPH, and that's 85% highway at 80 mph average.

That sounds about right. I get 28-30 on long trips, but I am more a 75-80 mph driver. I know mine is not an "is" but they aren't so different that with cruise control active on the open highway that the fuel economy should differ by more than a couple or so mpg, especially driving over flat ground.

Yes but doesn't your vehicle have a tune on it?

08 CPO 335i vert here. Got it at 21k miles. Now I have 66k on it in a span of 2 years .

The only issue I've had during this time was my water pump went out on me. That's the only issue I've had with the car itself. The tires though? That's a different story and I recommend getting rid of the run flats ASAP. They are garbage. They wear easily and if you get a nail in them you're screwed and have to take them in for a new set. They also make the car bumpy and annoyingly loud.

Love mine and I stay on top of checkups etc. Guess I've been really fortunate

Really? No trouble putting up close to 30mpg on the interstate. Did it any number of times on NC to Jersey & back about 1000 miles round trip. About 6.5 hours each way

Have not made the trip in the 135 yet but it will be interesting to see how it compares.

I was scratching my head a little on this comment as well. I've usually always experienced that cruising on the highway at 65-70MPH renders better than advertised HWY mileage. Good to know you turn close to 30 in your car!

I average around 18-19 on my stock 6MT with mixed suburban driving. I don't hold back on the car though. :-)

what's a normal idle rpm for ya'll? fully warmed up, etc. I'm BARELY above 500...seems like the car is gonna choke every once in a while then it jumps up to 750ish and then drops back down.

after all the posts about MPG... i honestly think something is wrong with my car... most of my driving does include uphill driving but, i find it ridiculous to only get 14-15 mpg in 2 weeks... i guess i'll wait a month to see if it gets better... if not, do you think i should contact my sales rep?

I had to get a loaner the other day and I got an X3 that had the MPG gauge and it was VERY sensitive to the throttle. Driving on the highway I would be at 30mpg and then with an EVER so slight incline that would drop down to low 20's.

I would just play it out and see what you average after some time.
