For the $ the SRT-8 won't be beat. Great cheap(er) mods for it too that will blow your mind.
And the reliability over the RR will be tremendous. That old v8 they keep putting in those is such a beater. Last edited by johanness; 05-14-2011 at 10:21 PM.. |

+1 to X5 and Q5.
-1 to MDX Late-gen Acuras have shit interior designs imo. I really can't stand anything about them. They might drive nicely, but they look meh on the outside and balls on the inside. You might be able to find a used 2008 ML63 AMG for that money, btw.

Foreign only, excluding Cayenne?

Get a Jeep or Cayenne. But Q5's are nice and pretty rare, seem to have decent residuals.

I'd go for a jeep grand cherokee(bang for the buck can't be beat). Honestly for a compact subcompact japanese, luxury car :euro, trucks/suv :american. A truck as to be able to haul/tow otherwise rather drive a wagon.

My dad has a Q5; loves it. Radiator exploded at like 13,xxx miles, but obviously got it replaced under warranty (got a A4 vert rental, so much fun to drive). Audi is going to get rid of the 3.2's soon, so get on that if you really want one.
The throttle response off the line is weird, but after you get past that, it's pretty torque-y and is definitely a performer after 40mph. Engine sits a little high, so the cabin feels a little weird. (Mom owns a GLK, so compared to that, it feels like you're sitting inside a tank.) Also, the rear-view mirror is kinda low and can block some of your view of the road, depending on seat position. Nevertheless, a great car. Reviews put the new X3 > Q5, but I haven't been inside the new X3, so I unno. I do recommend the Q5.

X5 3.0i. Great all around, handles well, and in your price range.
