Hi all- this morning my DS/M modes stopped working. Opened up the gear shift tonight and found one wire not connected and two others with the sheath slit. I used a butt connector, solder inside and a heat shield and wrapped all the wires up. Still isn't working.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

well depending on why they weren't connected in the first place you might have a wire out of place somewhere else further down the line. I dont know what would cause that to happen all of a sudden other than someone physically pulling out the wire

Yeap, look for more loose or disconnected wires. It happened to many of us.

Also, make sure to plug in the top cover.

I did not plug in the cover. I figured that shouldn't matter?

Its a BMW, if you look at it funny, you'll get a CEL

Well, apparently the top cover is integral to the functionality of DS/M mode. I plugged it all in and it worked. Oh, BMW.... Thanks everyone!
