Especially the ones they put on the M4 near "SWINDON".

But the bad news is that wilts safety camera partnership has vowed to step up their use of mobile units.

Can't win

Annoyingly it's very rarely police in the back of a mobile camera van, just employees of the camera partnerships.

I ain't anti Gatso. You can see that big yellow box as you come up and have time to reduce your pace.

Camera vans, your fucked. They can get you 600-800m away, whilst travelling towards them.

Long story. They were set up to catch traffic coming in the opposite direction (look at the picture below and you will see I was doing MINUS 88mph).

Whilst those vans are all stripy from the back, from the front, they are plain white and in this case, buried nose first in a bush.

Yes I should have seen him but what you can't see is that I had just overtaken 4 artics in a row so by the time I twigged, too late (plus I didn't think they worked when you were going away from them)

Must admit though that one of these "at speed" looks great on video and (apart from the velocity) shows a textbook overtake manoeuvre.

Ho hum

is that the same incident? But once you had passed it you knew, so why did you fire off at full pelt?

so you passed the lorries after, he must have got yo through the front screen. What a client.

Never knew they could get you going the "other way". Its abit unfair as their little warning on the front of those vans...

Nope

The camera (as you see it in the photos) is pointing out of the back of the van.

I have come from the front of the van, (whilst overtaking) and then settled back onto the right side of the road (just as you see the second photo of me doing 88). He then got me again (the 1st photo I posted) further down.

At this point, I was backing off but was of the view that if the cameras did work in both directions, he had probably got me by then and besides, I was now a kilometre down the road.

So the lesson is.

1. They work in both directions
2. They work over really long distances
3. What looks like a plain white van parked in a bush from the front may be more than it seems

What paint code is your 335?

It appears to be Sparkling Grey at 88mph, and Le Mans blue at 82mph!

335s are so quick they are subject to the doppler effect?
