Wood Trim is peeling up...
My wood trim is peeling up right below trans shifter ,right where the black square change holder is, and is also cracking on pieces that are attached to front dash sections. (From left side all the way to the right side thats above glovebox)
Please tell me if this is normal or not? Its not snapped, but when sun hits it you can see wood is cracked under veneer. I have full warranty still, and was wondering if its worth fixing or will they do more damage fixing it? Thanks for any help or tips guys/gals, MrD

If it's covered under the warranty, and you like the wood, you should get it fixed. Otherwise, you could always take this as an opportunity to wrap it (carbon fiber, aluminium, etc)

The "wood" trim in my 06 e90 developed hairline cracks in it. They replaced it under warranty for me. As far as fixing it, they just order a new trim piece and snap it in.
The only peeling I had was on the soft touch rubber near the door handles and on the center console. Also replaced under warranty. |

get it fixed...its the clear coat delaminating from the "wood" underneath...it will only get worse....check carefully for cracks in the rest of the interior.
I did some design work for a dash kit company and I know how they are made... It should be isolated to those spots, but you may have gotten a dash with a bad batch of clear.... Its also possible that the dash pieces were mishandled at some point on installation... JP |

Thanks, I saw what I thought were cracks, but was concerned with peeling issue as its noticeable. What sucks is it was worse in summer due to heat. Now that It's 2 degrees outside its not as bad so not even sure if they will fix it yet?

Hmm matte white, send me some pictures that sounds awesome. May be too much clash if I have black interior but could work.

Your first post was Oct 5 and youre just taking it in now? Good opportunity to change to Carbon Fiber or aluminum. Wood is for old Jags, Mercs and Rollers..
