[FREE] Central NJ - Providing Car battery replacement help
Hi All,
So since its winter time and people are bound to have issue with car batteries in these freezing cold temps... I wanted to offer local folks some help for free. If you have an e-series platform e9x/e8x/etc and my OBD2 cable works with ur car, i can help you pick out a similar replacement car battery from an auto retailer... then using the BMWLogger free application by Smooth1. i will register the like battery for u and verify in INPA that the last registered battery mileage is your current mileage. Some friendly auto shops will even install the batteries for free if u buy from them. I just helped one of my buddies do this at Advanced Auto Parts for $130 and tossed the guy a $20 tip. I'm doing this because it sucks to be stranded on the road and/or sucks to be late because u need someone to jump start you. Worse would be if u blow out the junction box because u didn't use the correct jump points in the engine bay. Feel free to reply in this thread if u want help. I would like to suggest, if anyone gets their battery registered with me, that they donate something to smooth1's BMWlogger app site. Since its his free tool i am using. Its really up to you if u wanna donate and however much u wanna donate. I don't charge anything for this and i'm glad to help my local community. But credit should go where it is deserved, i would not be able to do this easily without his application. Last edited by fazman; 12-15-2013 at 09:35 PM.. |

If AAP will install it for free, make sure that you tell them NOT to use the backup battery to preserve your "memory", that OBD2 device they plug in causes you kombi fuse to blow out. Not a big deal, but u then need to figure out which fuse number it is and buy the replacement 5amp fuse JUST SAY NO to backup battery okay!!!! |

No mean to thread jack, but I can assist anyone in the NYC area too with this same tool. I'm in Queens to be more precise but I'm all aboard with saving members from getting raped at the stealerships.
