My most favorite has to be Cobb tune. I love the power and practicality. The second best would be the 19" staggered M6 reps with larger front and rear foot print. The third would be a tie between my RennArt catback exhaust and BMW M performance racing alacantra with red/blue stitiching flat bottom steering wheel with M3 retrofit paddles with + for upshifts and - for down shifts. The steering wheel feels thick and soft perfect for spirited driving.....and sound of RennArt exhaust is nice and aggressive without become fart can nasty.

Next up on my list might be down pipes and M3 front and back complete control arms.

Short shift kit with weighted sport shifted and a CDV delete. Totally changed the shifting character of the car. Now is smooth, no more odd 1-2 shifts.

everyone bashes muffler deletes, but i gotta say it's def one of my favorites

obviously there's drone, but i rarely even notice it... it's like you get used to it

it sounds absolutely amazing, it's cheap, and you can just wake up one day and decide you want to do it or change it back in like an hour

plus the snap, crackle, pop is awesome

JB4 because it makes the cars lack of power a little better. Second best mod is having AAA number in the glove box.

Do all of you people (except two) have automatics or something? CDV delete.

I did it on my 2006, and when I traded that in for a 2009, I hated driving the 2009 until I got it in the garage to pull that sucker. I did that before redoing the AA tune, and haven't done the 3stage yet, but man, that CDV blows.

Hard but I'd have to say muffler delete with VMR 710s in gunmetal a close second. The MFD I get to hear every time I drive and always puts a smile on my face. I also put 3.5" dimisa tips which look narsty. The wheels are merely a cosmetic so while it does totally change the look of the car, I only get to appreciate this when I'm not driving.

Muffler delete ftw. I thought it would be way too loud and was pleasantly surprised. Literally the perfect amount of loudness.

I'd like to bump this old thread up, interested in seeing what people have to say these days - plus I'm going to be adding a few mods this winter as i've been fighting with myself on whether to buy a new bimmer or just improve the one I already have - mods, in theory, are cheaper than a car payment lol...

Out of my Mod list my favorites by category:

Performance - MHD and DCI (gotta love hearing the turbos spool)
Exterior - blackout grilles made a huge difference for cheap IMO
Interior - While the CF wrap definitely updates the interior from the wood trim, I'm an audiophile and get the most daily enjoyment out of the improved sound from the MusicarNW - i had base audio previously

Full Mod List:

blackout grills
Black Plasti-dipped Msport wheels
LED angel eye bulbs
DCI
FMIC
Outlets
MHD stage 1+ tune
MusicarNW Level 2 + sub audio
CF vinyl wrapped interior
Charge pipe and tial BOV

Planned list:
-Coilovers
-Spacers
-DPs
-Inlets
-xHP tranny tune
-Bump to MHD stg 2+ or custom

The Maybe list:
-E90 to F80 front bumper conversion (mine has a small indentation at the bottom and needs replaced anyway)
-CSL trunk if i can find used
-Rear diffuser

I'm currently working on Downpipes and PE exhaust mod. Next is going to be a stage 2 MHD tune.

Most recently is the MHD flash because it make my car go *BRAP BRAP BRAP*.

All jokes aside, I had a Cobb(not supported anymore) and the MHD tune feels amazing!

Also
-lowering on coils is a must
-FMIC

But my favorite thus far would have to be the M3 tri-stitched wheel along with the ZHP shift knob. World of a difference, like night and day from the regular old sport wheel and ugly chrome knob.

Does this mean my e90 lci sport has that wheel? Since they didn't start with the "M" on sedans till 2010 if memory serves me right. Look at my garage for a pic of my interior steering wheel!
2009 for Coupes and the M package availability

I love LOVE the wheel compared to the stock sport version. As previously stated by someone else, the everyday feel of it is a real pleasure.

Garage List
1. Installed MHD tune with logging and diagnostics options.
Reason: Performance boost and ability to diagnose problems and save money chasing problems.

2. Painted the stock Style 189 wheels gloss black.
Reason: Ties the bottom half of the car together with all the rest of the gloss black trim on my Alpine White baby.

3. Changed the 134k mile tranny fluid out with new ZF fluid and filter.
Reason: Harsh and delayed shifting resolved. Old fluid was very dark and smelled like monkey piss.

Every one I have done was worth it, and there have been many. As was my latest, the Bilstein B12 upgrade. The sport suspension was ok, the B12 is just frigging right.
