Purchased another 335 - this time xDrive!

After owning my old 335i RWD for 2.5 years my wife wanted me to purchase an AWD vehicle as I got a new job and can no longer work from home during inclement weather. As a result I sold my '07 335i Coupe which I loved and started looking for another vehicle

I test drove a few S5's and they were nice but fell short, plus I couldn't leave BMW. I found a 2011 BMW 335i xDrive M-Sport coupe in Le Mans Blue which I ended up purchasing. The color and M-Sport Bumpers really intrigued me. The vehicle has 1.5 years of factory warranty and maintenance left as well as 2 years CPO warranty. Which is a huge peice of mind factor for me as I plan to keep this for a few years. The vehicle didn't come equipped with all of the options which I wanted but it only had 29,xxx miles which was great and the price was right where I wanted it. The dealer had it on the lot for 140+ days, it was originally listed for $39k and they dropped the price in December to $34.9k - I walked out the door and the vehicle cost me $31,500! I think I ended up getting a good deal considering the amount of warranty left and the low miles. To add BMW has great APR rates on newer CPO vehicles which I couldn't pass up.

Overall the vehicles interior was not in the best condition which is why I think I got a good deal. It was pretty dirty and looked like it wasn't cleaned for a while. I started to detail it last night and it already looks much better. I also purchased SwissVAX Leather Cleaner to hopefully restore the leather to "like-new" condition as it has a lot of blue-jean stain (I will be doing that this weekend).

I already purchased a number of parts already to hopefully get it to where I want;
- Paint Matched Reflectors
- M3 Spoiler
- CF Lip (Kerscher Style)
- CF Diffuser (3-Fin Style)
- CF Grills
- Tinted it 35%

I will also try to convince the wife to let me lower it, we will see how that goes.

Well anyway I stayed with BMW and will continue to be on the forums I included pictures of my old car and two terrible pictures of the new one. Once I get around to detailing the entire vehicle I will post more.

OLD Vehicle

Thanks! I really loved that car. But AWD is more practical for me at the moment. Give me a few months, the new one will look [hopefully] as good once I get the parts on and detail!

Oh, I'm sure you will make the new car look as good as the old one and I'm willing to bet that you will get it done sooner than a few months!

The color is beautiful, however you could have just gotten some winter wheels and saved a lot of moolah- just my opinion.
Since you already got an xdrive vehicle, I wouldn't lower it and screw up what its original intent really is.

I think you are right I really don't want to do a full outside detail until the winter is over as there is just so much salt on the roads. But give me a few weeks and I will send you some new photos!

Thanks - I enjoy the color, I do not see to many of the Le Mans Blue around. The wheels are the ones that came with the vehicle - Style 193 I believe. They were an original option for the M-Sport. I did have a set of winter wheels/tires but I sold them with the old 2007. I will get a new set for next winter.

That is correct, I did purchase the vehicle at Ottos. Thanks - so far it has been great, especially with all of this bad weather. I am looking forward to getting the parts on and potentially lowering it!

Thanks - the color is really growing on me. It really shines when it is clean. I went with a lip and diffuser from JL Motoring. I think it was a Kerscher style front lip. The rear diffuser is 3-fin and Carbon. I didn't see lots of options for the M-Sport and didn't want to dish out $900 just for a front lip. I think it will do, at least for now.

No iDrive and Auto, which is what I wanted and had on the 2007. I need to get an Auto with Steptronic so my wife can drive it. I actually really enjoy the paddle shifters. My 2007 was the first Auto I had and I didn't miss the manual really at all. And the iDrive to me is just an annoyance - I would rather use my phone for GPS. It has other options like M-Sport Package, Heated Seats, Harmon Kardon Sound, Dakota Leather, Xenons, etc - I think the killer part of the deal was the 1.5 years remaining factory warranty / maintenance and then 2 years on top for CPO. It was very hard to find a 335 xDrive MSport in that price range even for sale privately. xDrives run a premium over RWD (at least where I live).
