My road to where i am now.

So i have a 2007 335i. Ive been just jb4 then jb4 and dci then i ran meth. I quickly figured out i didnt like meth so i removed it and a few months later i ordered vrsf downpipes and intercooler. After that i didnt really see any exhaust that i liked. I personally wouldnt pay for any exhaust that exists right now so i took my car to one of the best fabricators i know and had him make a semi custom exhaust he looked at it and removed the cats and mufflers so my car is now straight piped as well as removing that stuff he removed some sharp bends and other things he saw that looked like they would restrict flow. Once all that was done i really enjoyed the car but i had the mod bug and i wanted more. I looked into e85 and soon i had the jb4 g5 then jb4 g5 iso running 50/50 e85/93. The car ran amazing and i was trapping consistent 119's and in really good conditions i even ran a 120. All of this was in full daily driver form no visual weight reduction, no radials, no race gas, and no meth, also i dont have an lsd. My car was in this form for a couple of months until i saw Terry's walbro upgrade and bms flash setup. I did some more research into the e85 world and im fairly convinced that e85 is the best fuel there is. Its $3.29 a gallon, has an octane rating of around 103, and keeps the engine cool at the same time. Only downside was i need more fuel so i ordered a 455lph e85 walbro and a cobb. I installed the fuel pump which took a couple hours just because i was being really picky about being perfect. That night i filled up with 100% e85 flashed the car with the bms backend flash set my car to map 5 and all i can say is this car hauls ass. I havent pboxed it yet but i think i have picked up about 2 mph of trap speed. I am currently working on switching over to map 7 but i think i have a injector issue which is causing a high rpm/ high load misfire.

If i had to do it all over again i think i would do it nearly identically.

for all of you asking about what mods you should get if it were me i would do it as follows.

jb4 g5 iso: its on the cheaper side of the tune world but i have raced cars with other options and havent lost also Terry is one of the best as far as support that i have ever dealt with.

Downpipes: get any 3 inch down pipes. i got vrsf because they were cheap and i dont see any problem with the quality i have no rattles and no fitment issues as well as all the welds looking perfect

Intercooler. I also have the vrsf intercooler 7inch. My car has no heat issues what so ever besides on the high way when im doing long top speed runs for an extended periods of time or on the track with multiple runs and no cool down. The only real thing to solve that issue is and oil cooler.

straight piped exhaust: yes its loud. yes it makes a terrible noise at 1800rpm. yes it sounds like crap. yes its not stealth. But im not about being quite im about all out performance and whats best for the car and when i straight piped my car it felt like it picked up just as much if not more than i did with my down pipes. Besides just the power i picked up i lost around 75 lbs. between the muffler the cars and some other stupid bends in the exhaust.

Walbro and cobb: This setup is a really good one. It allows you to run whatever amount of e85 you want as well as making more power with little to no effort. Flashing the map is so easy just plug the cobb into your computer load the bms flash and then flash that to the car. I personally feel that my car has never been smoother as well as removing the speed limiter which if any of you havent done it this car does great at higher than limited speeds for reasons im sure you will understand i wont disclose.

Little details: These are things that i thought about doing and they seem to help a bit. First off i use motul 300v in my car always. 5w30 power racing its the best oil i have ever used and makes a huge difference in this car. I have an m3 front bumper which i believe has the best flow to the intercooler. out of abs plastic i made a cowl that directs all air in the middle opening of the bumper to the intercooler. In the passenger side fog duct i removed the fog and added a duct which ducts lots of air to the oil cooler and the brakes and on the drivers side there is one duct that brings air through a tube up and to the dci and another which ducts the other brake. along with this ducting i made custom cyba like scoops but bigger which bring lots of air up and into that snorkel type device and again to the dci. I have also wrapped the entire cool side of the intercooler to the engine including the intake manifold in fold heat wrap tape which seems to keep my car cooler when sitting preventing heat soak.

Llastly weight reduction: My car weighs 3400lbs with a full tank of gas. This isnt with me in it but i have a fully stock interior. The way i got down to this weight was by removing stupid ****. Like the engine cover, the ac filter, the big cowl, the muffler the cats, the trunk lining and mats, as well as putting light wheels on my car has gotten down to 3400lbs and no one could ever tell from the outside.


Also one last note on tires. I have had v12s, pss, r888, and run flats on my car. If you are serious about traction i highly consider the r888's they hook so well and i dont even have an lsd. I havent gotten a 60 foot on them yet but if i can pull a 2.1 on v12's which i hated i think the r888's will put down sub 2's. And if you actually car about life time of your tires i suggest you get pilot super sports. If Rob Lonman uses them they are good enough for me and if you dont know who he is i suggest you watch this.

One last thing if you are serious about cop protection i have a small review of some things i use.

radar detector: Escort 9500ix. People say the valentine is better i dont think so. Yes it has arrows but in a daily driver i think it sucks. Around town it beeps constantly and i hate it you end up just turning it on low volume and it doesnt do anything because it cries wolf all the time. This is why i love my 9500ix. It never false alerts and ive actually picked up a signal before on a clear flat road from more than 3 miles. Which is plenty of time to slow down. So when it comes to radar detectors thats my pick.

laser protection: I suggest the blinder m47. It blocks all lasers at all distances and on any size car or truck it really works wonders nothing more i can really say about it. Also if you dont want to pay 800 for a good jammer get yourself some VEIL laser jamming paint. Its 90 a can and can coat 8-9 cars. You paint your headlights and it makes them a matte finish so you do loose a bit of vision but with our headlights i have no problems what so ever. For the money its really great stuff. on average it cuts the distance laser guns can get a signal by a 1/10 so if they can usually hit you at 2000 feet now they only can get you at 200 and those 1800 feet are crucial when it comes to identifying the threat and slowing down.

Gps based systems: my 9500 ix has speed cameras built in but it doesnt have speed traps and this is where my garmin picks up the slack. I have a fairly basic garmin which i think you can now get for 100 dollars loaded with trapster, and njections. Which are basically just user entered locations of where cops sit. Its great for long trips where you are going places you arent familiar with. The gps says known law enforcement point you slow down and about 80-90% of the time there is no cop but it only takes once.

lastly theres a scanner: I like the uniden i think its called bear cat trunker system. Its digital so it can pickup really any county or agency besides the new systems where they use a closed loop system that is impossible to listen to

I've been tempted to do the pump replacement, I am considering buying a new oem pump setup so I can build before swapping. 100% E85 sure is tempting, I run e30 at the moment and it is such an upgrade over 93.

like i said e85 is just such a great fuel but honestly just buy the walbro and swap it in its not a hard swap at all

Out of curiosity, how aggressive an e85 mix were you able to run before you ran out of fueling and leaned out too much? I'd buy the walbro pump but i'm still under cpo, so I doubt that would go over well. I've ran roughly an e30 mix with no issues and the car felt a good deal stronger than on 93 pump. Trims looked OK IIRC, but i'd imagine they get maxed out pretty quickly with ethanol.

i ran 50/50 e85/93. Also im on cpo as well lol but im so far past the point of it mattering that i said screw it

your downpipes are 3inch to 2.5 inch and you should make your exhaust 2.5 to 3 inch right at the downpipe that way anyone who was serious about big power could just go to an exhaust shop and have those pieces cut out and a piece of 3inch pipe welded in for a true turbo back dual 3 inch exhaust and at the same time any one could buy it because it fits all downpipes... just a thought. Other wise your products are fantastic

We've actually tried this in the past, the 3" flange wont' bolt up to the stock 2.5" flange

We have a N55 turbo back exhaust that will be available soon that will be 3.5" from the turbo back without any divisions. It's much more difficult to do on an N54 unless the 3" mid-pipes are sold with it.
