Sweet, wish I had seen this thread sooner. I don't understand the technicals behind the paint, but those pics of the reflection in-focus are what I seem to observe happening when someone's car is repaired at a body shop. The reflection is no longer sharp and in-focus like the OP has done with his efforts.
