Yes, but he was a different example. For instance he designed a custom peice of hardware to translate from KCAN to KBUS.

When I asked about getting the FSC codes he said that regardless of the CIC being new or used he can generate FSC codes for it. So the suckers are still required... |

That's the reason I'm going to ask for the FSC enabling codes directly to the source: BMW.

You should know very well by now that nobody will give that information out... even BMW does not want anybody to know how this is done, and that's even for customers more than willing to pay legitimately for that information.

Stop. Show me my message, where I tell you about not correctly working CIC?
Then... I told you about Navi-activation code (It generate in BMW-office), not about our way to install CIC into the car. The question I asked you - the desire to share experiences with the guy from Germany

I believe the last estimate (near the beginning) was around $1000. $500 for screen, $500 for CIC, but that was a used CIC. If I am following things correctly, Technic was told by his dealer the CIC needs to be new in order to have FCS codes written to it which will run you about $900.
Technic, out of curiosity, have you considered splicing the cable in? It may be a proprietary connector, but in the end, it's just a USB connector. USB has 4 pins, 2 power and 2 data. You can pretty easily find out which one is which with a voltmeter. The pins for USB and their typical color and order are: VCC +5V (red) Data- (green) Data+ (white) Ground (black) http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml (I would send you to the official USB site but its just a bunch of PDFs everywhere) Just take any male-male USB cable cut off one end, and you'll see the wires, just hook them up accordingly. If done right you won't really notice, just have the USB cable recess into the glovebox wall a bit more so you don't see the splice. [edit] Actually I can guarantee you this will work. BMW has the pins in a different order (D+, VCC, D-, Gnd), but according to the spec you listed here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=47 its the exact same thing. If you really want to make it closer, you can splice on a female receiver connector and put that into the wall of your glove box so that you can actually disconnect the USB cable. This would actually work better because it'd be cheaper and if you ever lost the cable, you could easily replace it with another male-male line. |
