This needs to gather some momentum, we are treading water here. We need a way to gather the names of affected people, and then to move forward with a Watchdog case or whatever course of action we decide gives us a chance of winning on some level. At the moment there's lots of talk and no action.

So if its not another thread, then what? I am happy for anyone affected to PM me and I will gather details. However, I have a new baby and I'm trying hard to make sure I don't get made redundant so I cannot take this on alone! I need others to commit to putting together the case etc once we have the names, assuming the numbers are great enough to give us some credibility.

Comments?

All that needs to happen is for the affected people to give their details and start a list. Each time a name is added the list is copied, pasted and the extra name added. This will produce a definitive list of folk who have damaged wheels. They can then choose a plan - watchdog has got to be a good start.

mda335i did try and start the list but no one carried it on - here are his details again....

very sad, but an interesting message from BMW UK: Nothing to do with us, we dont import, make, or sell cars, so we wont be any help if you have an issue. We're just a bunch of marketing numpties.

You cant sue the dealer for a manufacturing defect, so you have to sue BMW GMbh.

Nightmare.

Read the Sale Of Goods act - your contract is with the person who sold it to you, not the manufacturer. Are you saying that if my new Sony telly blows up I can't stomp back into Currys I have to sue Sony in Japan?

Yeah right.

225 19's - Cracked near side rear (and possibily offside rear also).

There is quite a story surrounding mine, but cutting it short, Near side back had puncture some months ago, had it replaced by supplying dealer. However, they have fitted the wrong size tyre. Turns out they fitted the front tyre size to the back!

To be honest - although the alloy seemed to protrude out more than others, I didn't pay full attention to it. The car key'd by some ar@e so got it resprayed at another dealership and they confirmed that the wrong size of tyre had been fitted.

So spoke to the original supplying dealership, and they confirmed that they would replace the tyre but that the alloy was cracked. Same story has I’ve been reading here - no liability admitted, they also refused to accept that the wrong size of tyre could have caused the failure, and if I wanted them to fit the correct size back on, I would need to pay £505 for a replacement alloy.

Haven’t done anything about it yet, but would greatly appreciate advice / guidance.

Has anyone yet gone to watchdog on this? - If not im happy to start the ball rolling.

Why is no one with cracked wheels taking this to watchdog?????

I bet it would highlight LOADS of owners across the UK that don't frequent forums such as this, who have had cracked alloys. BMW need to understand that all these people have not been purposely driving over 'potholes' and recognise THEY have a problem and cover the replacements by warranty asap.

I'm the next victim. Cracked rear alloy E92 335d M Sport.

And apparently there is not a single replacement alloy in the UK. Dealer is saying I have to wait 4 weeks for a new one.

WTF am I supposed to do for 4 weeks without a wheel!?!
