Using Cleansweep/Audiocontrol Lc6i

Hi guys,

I purchased my E90 two weeks ago and love the car but cannot believe how shocking the base system is so have decided to get it sorted out.

I have been extensively reading this forum which has been a wealth of great knowledge, thank you all for that.

I understand from all the posts that because I have the base audio system with professional head unit the system is heavily equalised and needs to be flattened.
I have seen the Jl Audio Cleansweep and Audiocontrol Lc6i and was wondering if anyone has had much experience with either before I take the plunge and purchase one of these to clean things up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Cleansweep is preferred as the LC6i had some noise issues in the past, IIRC. But you know that these are not standalone units, they just clean up the signal, you'll still need amplification and new speakers, at a minimum.

Thanks for the response.

The plan is to get either of these units to clean up the sound then into a couple of amps, one for some focal components and the other for two earthquakes under the seats. I will get some speakers for rear fill but am going to start with the front.

Any suggestions and advice is always welcomed

If you can code the output to hi fi you won't need extra pieces.
No cleansweep or level shifting devices.
That seems like a cleaner route to me.

Ctuna how would I go about getting the stereo recoded?

This may sound a really stupid question but is it possible that a used head unit from the Hifi (option 676) setup be used to replace one that has been equalised or would the unit be coded to the original car it was taken out of.

There are a number of guys in London that can do it .
Or can determine if it can be done or no where to get it done.
There has been a lot of activity from guys in England on the forum lately.
Soleman and Makkan00 are some I can think of off hand.
Also Mob17.
Makkan00 has a recent post saying he was successful at it.(Hi Fi recode)
I believe there is a UK subforum also where these guys post a lot.

If you want to do coding yourself go to the coding subforum and study the
sticky's get a coding setup , its fairly cheap it will also allow you to do
diagnostics.

I am in the exact same position right now with the horrendous base unit...what is typical cost to reprogram to HiFi?...and does it make enough of a difference where you wouldnt do this and then just pay to upgrade the system right afterwards anyway as you wouldnt be satisfied with the results.?

If you happen to live near Portland
You could visit MusicarNW there the best at BMW systems guys on the West Coast.
There solution for the Base System does use the Cleansweep though .
I don't know what they could do for you if you needed to recode.
They sell the best complete kits with all the parts adaptors harnesses and audiophile components. All you need to install it is the ability to use small tools and be somewhat competent working on cars.. There is no soldering required with there kits they use factory connectors and the amps/processors and crossover come pretuned as much as possible.

For people that have taken there stuff to a dealer or Indy they usually
charge you and hours labor for the reprogramming . Then if you are piecing
stuff together yourself you should at least get a Technic harness and follow the examples in the thread below.

The coding setup is pretty cheap basically a cable and downloaded software
(see the coding board sub forum ) But you do need competent on computers
to use it. There may be people that code near you .
You wouldn't probably want to code to Hi Fi till you get everything else in place.
