I get flashed a lot in the bimmer..I guess they just think I'm a cock. No other vehicle I drive I get this, yet my driving style is unchanged.

Night and day doesn't matter.

a few reasons could be

1. you're going slow so flash to pass
2. they could think your highbeams are on because your lights are naturally bright..
3. admire your car, i sometimes give a thumbsup like this
4. giving you the right of way or saying go
5. your lights are off
6. warn you of a danger ahead, car wreck, animals, stopped traffic, speed traps..
7. if you make a jerk move, or driving like an asshat, they're "getting back" at you (not saying OP, just in general)

Ya whenever they flash me I flash them right back then they quit haha. This one time I was sitting in the turning lane and the person across me in the other turning lane flashed me so I flashed them back then they decided to turn their brights on the whole time so I did it right back. Ended up leaving our brights on eachother for like 1 or 2 minutes straight till the light changed haha I got a kick out of it.

Ever think it's because of the aftermarket lights or lights not being aimed correctly?

Yes I have thought of this but I can see perfectly the way they are and see everything. My E46 people never flash me but they are not near as bright. Maybe its just people in kansas.

do you really think people will flash high beams at you because you are cool? it usually means one thing - turn your lights down. if they are on low beam, then they are set to high.

if you have HID's in a non HID housing the light pattern is bullshit and will piss everyone coming towards you off.

i, personally, hate low budget aftermarket HIDS and all the cheap ass wannabes that run them.

Maybe it's the kelvin on your bulbs dude.
I try to run as close to 6000K as possible.
You might be running more into the 7000K range, if not higher.

OP mentioned that he has a E46 M3.
It is entirely possible his car came with stock HIDs.
The Kelvin the bulbs he's running may indeed irritate some oncoming drivers - still waiting on that verdict.

Ah ok. Not sure where I got M3 from ha ha.

I honestly think it's the blue hue from your lights that are irritating oncoming drivers.

Just a thought, mind you, since you asked.

I'm not criticizing you at all brother

How did you check it? DOT rules say that the top of the cutoff should drop 2-3 inches from the height of the headlight at 25 feet in front of the car on a level ground.
