in typical lexus fashion, this car will have a huge wheel gap and recessed wheel fitment when it comes to market.

Agreed. Also agree with your other post. One other thing I really like about this RC is the fog lights. I love how discreet they are which is very fitting for a coupe.

The Lexus RC debuted in Tokyo today. Here are the pics. The 4 series now has LEGIT competitor from Lexus. Check out the pics and weep.

Well, the 4 Series is not ugly, but looks boring as a VW. RC on the other hand is a mean beauty.

RC looks so much better than 4 Series IMO, and I think it will drive better too. BMW is still sleeping. Hope they wake up with the next generation 7 Series.

The front is just beyond ugly.

They rear is ok. What are those black plastic slashes? They just look wrong.

So this thing is based on the GS, not the IS? I can't see how it's going to be dynamically competitive to the 4er, seem like it will likely be much heavier and more of a 6er competitor, albeit without competitive engines. The GS350 is listed as 3,800 pounds, even if this loses some weight compared to that, it's still going to be a porker.

Dear Lexus,

Nike called. They want to sue you for using their trademark symbol on the front of your new cars without prior agreement.

This is not based off of the GS or IS. It is longer than an IS but narrower than a GS. It has its own unique platform.

From Autoblog:

The brand doesn't want you to take this RC Coupe for a two-door version of the IS. It's based on the GS platform but its dimensions are unique, being wider, lower and shorter in wheelbase than the IS.

You have your facts wrong. This thing is based on both the IS and GS, because IS and GS share the same new platform, thus the weight disadvantage of the IS which is based on the GS, unlike the 3 Series which is not based on the 5 Series. The GS is longer than the IS (overhangs), but it has a shorter wheelbase. The power of the 3.5l V6 is enough, it is more fuel efficient in real driving conditions, sounds better. Unfortunately Lexus will introduce the new 3.0l V6 Turbo in the next LS, and the 2.0l I4 in the new NX. But the engines will be competitive. BMW also was very uncompetitive without its N20 and N63 (by the way N63 is no more competitive and N55 neither, thus new N58). Now the Japanese will go turbo, they'll own the market again. That is their domain. BTW, they went NA for efficiency reasons, paradoxically they go back to FI for efficiency reasons, but that FI is efficient is BS.

Not a huge fan of the stacked looking LED headlamps that have been showing up on new models. BMW imo still has the best looking LEDs in the market.

Haters gonna hate, but the Lexus rear 100% looks better than the 4er. I'm of the same opinion in regards to the interior too. What Lexus could do better however is about the overhangs. But the rear is perfection. Can't imagine what the RC-F will be.

Exactly!

I don't like the grey rear indicator/reverse lenses too. They should have made it white or red and maybe used LEDs there. It looks a bit old-fashioned to me.

Well, BMW also doesn't have LED. The Lexus does however, but it has LED bulbs.

And to continue showing how a BMW fan turned into a Toyota fan:

This engine is rumoured to make 300 PS and 400 Nm. Next engine will be the 3.0l V6 and then the 4.0l V8. Lexus "LS-F" already makes 650 PS out of its 5.0l V8.

The marketing video must came from the B team, all that animation of juxtaposition between beauty and evil mixed with techno does nothing compare to the roar of F-type R. Sorry that exhaust of the R makes RC looks like a wimp

At the end of the day, the RC-F will be cheaper, faster, a better driver's car, more practical, sound better, be more efficient and before all more reliable than the F-Type R. But anyway, the RC does not compete against the F-Type, but against that Audi-bland looking 4 Series.

Hmmm...bland 4 series or ugly as hell RC?

Tough call.

I take neither of them.
