New to e90post - 335i melb
Hi all,
After lurking on here for many months I finally decided to sign up I just purchased my 2008 SBM 335i msport from BMW melbourne kings way last friday. It is black on black, with comfort access, dct, and n54 twin turbo engine! Also came with 12 months warranty. It was the first and only 335i to hit Australia with dct and n54 built in October 2008 so also has the new 2009 idrive system, it's really a 2009 model car but was sold december 2008. I've come from holdens v8's, my previous car being a hsv e series gts which I highly modified. This car will stay pretty standard I love the way it looks, and has more than enough performance for a cruiser. I may add a procede v5 or jb4 when the warranty is finished The mods I'm look at doing are, Lux V3 Angel's, window tint, bmw performance gloss black kidney grills, euro plates, m3 steering wheel with the newer - + paddle shifters or the 2011 335i - + paddles, which would would suit my car better? I'm thinking the M3 paddles having the aluminum look to match my interior. Wheres the cheapest place to obtain these parts? From the reading I've been doing Andrew from Southern BM looks like the person to use to install any mods. What tint does everyone recommend? keeping in mind I also have comfort access, I've read ceramic tint is the best way to go. Is there a solution for the rear window dot matrix yet? I want something dark but not blacked out. BMW Melbourne recommended me the cancer council tint.. Is this any good? Thanks for your time |

Welcome to the forum.
That is a beautiful car. Maybe I am biased.

Congrats! I know that car. It was listed for $71,800 drive away (in Melbourne) and it has about 50 something thousand k's on the clock. I offered $64k but the dealer wanted $68k. How much did you get it for? if you don't mind me asking.

Welcome mate,
Car looks nice. You can install a JB4 and if the car needs work under warranty, it is easy to remove/delete codes.....namely, BMW would be none the wiser. For LUX V3, get them off Stuart. You'll have them a lot quicker as they'd be coming from Sydney at opposed to the USA (ordered them for the 335i from America, took a month, ordered for the X6 from Stuart, 2 days). More importantly, enjoy it! Cheers. |

Hey mate, welcome!
Car looks great and agree that the gloss kidney grills is the way to go, it will go well with the gloss black shadow line. For the M3 wheel and dct paddles, Stuart may still have one available. Stu's your man for the Lux and wheel from the looks of it! Enjoy your new ride! |

Thanks for the responses and warm welcoming.
I didn't pay the asking price, I negotiated a couple grand off it. Stuart seems like the go to man. What's his user name? I'll do the cosmetic mods first, and look into a tune later on |

Welcome.
Regarding the tinting, I can advise you to carefully consider who does it. Mine was done by Tint-A-Car and they totally stuffed it up. They ruined my rear windscreen (cut demister bars) and the headlining (nicks made by knife I think). They denied doing it, on a 4 day old brand new car! In the end I had to claim a new rear windscreen and headlining through my insurance company. The only solution to the dot matrix problem is to not tint over it. This is what BMW do. There are products out there that claim to help but don't really work. I will be getting my car back next week and plan to do that. All the tinting companies use a special film on the rear window so as not to impact the antennas etc.

Thanks for the heads up re the tint. I have been doing so much research on it because my right arm is getting burnt while driving in the sun LOL I have researched everywhere and still don't feel confident in getting a tint. I contacted Cartint in Ringwood and he said he can tint but the issue is still there with the milky white pattern over the dot matrix. He uses Madico Charcool non metallic tint to not affect comfort access etc. He has done a white M3 which looks good but not sure whether to go get that tint or just get BMW to do it so if anything stuffs up they can be liable. And not covering the the dot matrix sounds okay, but you would need a light tint shade otherwise would look weird. Here's a few pics of the white M3 with Madico Charcool tint which I think looks great, and from the feedback of Cartint he seems like a professional and takes pride in his work. http://www.cartint.net.au/products.html |

Ended up getting LCI paddles for my M Sport steering wheel rather than buying a M3 Wheel/Paddles. I prefer it looks OEM/Original.
Paddles are much nicer with the - + paddles. Also fitted black bmw performance kidney grills. |
