Yes i have an oil cooler! It is standard on all euro 335's.
I know from a lot of N54's that have massive problems when they track or drive high speed autobahn (>5min +200km/h). No problems known of N55'... |

2012 335xi and no aux cooler. Took a pic of my oil temp gauge during normal driving. 77F degrees outside. The oil temp gauge was just over
250F (121C).

I just did a short distance cruise on the weekend, the temperature runs constantly at 120 degree or 250 F, if you park the car and go near the hood, you will feel the heat.
So whats a good after market brand oil cooler for N55? |

I'm going to give the wetter water method a try before I drop $1k+ (USD) on an aftermarkert oil cooler. If that doesn't work, I'll have to stick to shorter autoX runs instead of tracking.
I don't think we've heard about too many N55s overheating because they're just haven't been very many hitting the track in the summer yet. I suspect that will change this summer.

Water wetter and MoCool are coolant additives to reduce engine temps during HPDEs. Usually mixed at some ratio with distilled water. Lots of info on the topic in the tracking forum.

It's just the X-drives in Canada that don't come with the oil cooler. This was a big consideration why I ordered the RWD 335. That and not having to order the m-sport package and still getting the suspension and brake upgrades.

During the late May hot temperatures in Ontario - the temp was reading 120-122.
Mind you it was highway driving for over 1 hour with the PPK 1. I don't really like running at that temp - so maybe a Stage 2 kit may help.

Haven't tried it yet. But we r in Austria doing a euro delivery on a Z4 35 is, which is the N54 with increased water and oil cooler and time (compared to 35i and 335i). I drove the Grossglocker in 37-50F temps and it still ran just over 255F. The engines are designed to run hot. But it was weird that the N54 ran hotter than my N55 while back home.

Went to track yesterday in sunny, humid and hot 28 degree Celsius weather. Would only manage 3-4 HARD laps with Map 1 of JB4 on before limp mode would kick in. Two cool down laps would bring the oil temps back down to around 120 degree Celsius temperatures though but still definitely need an oil cooler.
