18" tires with good tread life?
Hello everyone
I just purchased a 2007 323i and plan to look for some aftermarket 18" rims and tires. I am not a big fan of run flat tires, and will probably get regular tires. My questions are as follows- 1.) I am more interested in longevity than performance of the tire (car will be used for commuting, not performace driving). Are there any non Z rated tires out there that would still fit on this car in an 18" configuration? 2.) I am not too keen on the looks of the rear end of the car and think the small OEM style spoiler may help. Does anyone have before and after pictures with such a spoiler? thanks in advance |

As for Question 1, try General UHP...well reviewed, well priced and good longevity. |

Your best bet is to do a tire search here http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SearchTires.jsp
The higher the UTQG rating the better the tread life of the tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=48 You can also check the survey of each tire to see its performance ratings. Let us know what you ended up getting. |

Try all season tires, should be the longest lasting tires!

I have the same concerns. I would also suggest putting on all season tires. I have personally uses Conti Extreme Contacts and Kuhmo Ecsta Asx tires on My S4 and they were very good for my needs. I would also consider Pirelli P zero neros M+S. General Exclaim UHP seems to be the best non A/s tire for your situation.

Don't get all season tires, get tires that are intended for their use. I mean, of course, within reason, if you can do it, it'd be ideal. Get some summer tires for summer, and some beater rims for winter tires during winter.
How many miles are you trying to get out of your tires? I think general exclaim UHPs are the best bang for your buck right now. Check them out on tirerack.com We usually sell the generals with our CSL/M6/etc wheel/tire packages. |

If you're looking for General Exclaim UHP tires in the sport package configuration, you are not going find the right size.
Nothing pains me more than seeing everyone raving about their Generals...in 19" sizes, of course. Does anyone run Generals on the 18" sport package wheels?

thanks for the advice
Thanks to everyone that took the time to reply. I will let you know how I make out.
I am hoping to find a tire that will last up to 50,000 KM (30,000 miles) under regular driving conditions. |
