Winter Tires and Wheels ??
Hey, I know it's summer and most of us are using preformance tires but our friend Mr. Winter will be here again I'm sure in the not too distant future...... so with that in mind:
- anyone done any reserarch on winter wheels for the 335i ?? - anyone have any strong feelings (and why) on winter tires ??? (e.g. Blizzak's LM-25 RFT's vs an standard all season radial RFT such as Michelin or Continental .... etc.) - any thoughts on 17 vs 18 inch and whether price difference is worth it for winter tires ? BMW standard wheels and Blizzak LM-25's will run about $2500.00 plus tax at the dealer. Tire Rack ASR or other painted wheels and the LM-25's will run about $1600.00. I (like most of you I'm sure) would like to spend as little as possible but want to get a wheel that will hold up to Western NY winters and salt. So..... anybody out there in BMW cyberland start to think about this stuff yet ??

I've posted a thread on ASA JH3 wheels from TireRack.. They're cheap and look ok and do the job. Dunlops or Bridgestone Blizzaks are ok choices for tires.

DrDomer,
How well do you think the ASA wheels will hold up in winter and in salt conditions ?? I had a set of Rage wheels on my 330ci cabrio and they started to pit after about 1 season. Any experience with the ASA's. Anyone else ??

They should hold up great. ASA is made from BBS and the wheels are very good for the money. You should not have anything to worry about.

You should pick up some BBS LM reps that we have on special right now. They come in either 18x8 and 18x9. The 18x8 come in ET35 and the 18x9 come in either ET38 or ET22.
I figure, they would be great winter wheels, given their price, and size. |
