so driving around yesterday and all of a sudden the abs light comes on! then the battery light!! then the sterio stops working then the power windows wont work... still while driving.. then the gauges stop working!! then the car quits and wont start as if the battery is too low!! boosted it! it started...drove for 5 minutes and failing steps repeated!!! is this what goes on when you r alternator dies??? or is there something else in the charging system that could cause problems??!! any help or suggestions would be great!! Thanks!!

Sounds like a bad alternator/battery to me. Get it running and check the battery voltage.

Seriously though, the battery should have at least 12.0 volts with no loads turned on and the engine off. 12.4-12.6 would be better. With the engine running, you should see 13.6-14.4 volts. Anything under 13 while the engine is running means the alternator is probably bad. Or there could be a loose connection or bad ground.
