Very creative indeed. I personally like the amber because it makes the car look more classy. Especially the orange ambient light at night. Blue and white gauges just reminds me of an American Ford or Chevy. Just my personal taste, but good job thinking out of the box!

Thanks. This is another one of those mods that have to do with individual taste. My blue ambient lighting is awesome at night! My current Chevy has green lighting which I may start changing too. I like outside of the box or on the edge.

Not so sure.
The blue and high contrast wet carbon kills the luxury feel of the car IMO, but again, it's just my view. enjoy!

Did you change these? Its in the FZD, its the ambient lighting leds. However unlike the others, these look like 4 pin! Maybe these? PLCC4?

I did try changing them, but like several other circuits in the car, voltage is limited. I could not figure out how to increase voltage on that LED circuit. I just blacked them over with electrical tape until a solution comes up. The amber LEDs will illuminate under 3v, but white and blue typically are not going to illuminate below 3.2v. A red one will probably work fine too.

Actually this car had over 13k when I bought it. Keep in mind that I previously owned an e92 M3 and e89 Z4. I have hated the amber for a long time.

I actually changed those last night, using plcc2, I just soldered it offset to one side with only 2 contacts and it worked. Obviously being offset to one side means it wasnt really functional since it wouldnt line up with the hole but it did light up pretty bright. I ordered some plcc4 so I'll see how that goes when I get them.

Do you recall the orientation in consideration to the polarity notch on the LED? Did you change the SOS LED too? Did you get any warnings like SOS warning? I did and couldn't correct it. I ended up having to buy a new one. Not easy to find either. Only e93 and e89 use the one I have.

I'll take a picture when I get home tonight, it was on my extra FZD module. I've removed assist from my VO so I'm not sure I'd get an error either way.

As you can see I just stuck it on there to see if it'd work but here it is. The two LEDs (left + right) are opposite of each other. Being offset makes it much less useful since it misses the opening. My PLCC4 should be coming soon and I'm gonna start a full conversion to white.

I will be doing some experimenting with that this weekend. It sure will be nice to have them blue too. Thanks for the pointers. PM me anytime I might be of some help to you.

What I just discovered om my FZD circuit board, is that the 3 positive solder pads are all joined together. There is continuity between all 3 pads on each of the ambient light LED locations. So there is no need to offset the LED. Just put something non-conductive over the positive pad next to the negative pad. It would also help to use a solder wick to remove all solder from the unused pad first.

There isn't enough voltage for a blue PLCC-4, that's why trying PLCC-2 or my choice 3.2v 3228 LED.
