E92 335i pe exhuast mod

Hey guys, looking to do the Pe mod to my e92 335i exhuast for a bit more sound. Instead of welding in straight pipes where the perforated pipes were has anyone attempted to wrap the perforated pipe heavily with exhuast wrapp and worm clamps? Thanks

Seems like wasted effort to cut the exhaust up and then only put a band-aid in there.. Just my .02 but if I was going to cut the top off, might as well just chop off that perforated piping and weld in the new piece..

Hit the nail on the head with that one. If I don't like the sound it made, would also be a lot easier to revert back.

Also, would make it a little more diy friendly. I can weld decently, but have a hard time in confined space. Would also mean I'd only have to cut the top section and not both sides of the muffler to get access to all the piping welds.

The only real question I'm asking myself is how much ambient noise the wrapp would absorb. If it did too much, would make the modification useless obviously.

The guys with 135i exhausts seem to be doing it this way.

Garage List
I picked up a used set of mufflers off Craigslist(turned out to be a cool forum member) for just $20 bucks(lucky buy) is. Picking up a used set of mufflers is your best way to go and keeping your stocks for whatever. Good luck!

Get another pipe split it in half lengthwise. Clamp it around the perforated pipe.

Have you heard a pe mod in person who has welded pipes in? If so much of a sound difference?

Would you say idle sound is increased at all?

I have not heard a welded PE mod in person, but from what I've read the sound is the same. The only difference is wrapping is much easier to reverse.

There is a slight increase in sound during idle, but only noticeable from outside the car.

Also, if you're concerned about drone, just make sure to replace sound insulation and evenly divide between mufflers.
