Most of us here would say speakers aren't enough.

Most of us here would say speakers aren't enough.
The stock hi fi amp is only putting out like 12 to 15 watts rms
per channel at best. The whole amp speaker combo is weak .
And BMW has to use 2 ohm speakers to squeeze than much power
out of the amp.

Tuna, the numbers you are quoting are incorrect. These are the numbers from the base/stereo head unit. The hi-fi amp puts out 25 W per channel to the mids and tweets. 40 W to the underseat base

Show me where it's listed as RMS

Show me where it's listed as RMS
I haven't seen it . If RMS is not listed you have
to assume peak due to marketing inflation.
I realize the numbers you quoted are what is listed
in the pdf but they do not say rms, unless I missed it.
Still even then if you put some 4 ohm aftermarkets in the power
is cut a lot more.

hi guys, i'm new to bmw, and have a 2011 e92 with HiFi (as far as i can tell). i just started looking through the stereo upgrade threads, and am looking to follow kaigoss69's setup "path" for the MS-8 in this thread i like the ms8 for the 31band eq, even though i likely will not go through the trouble of adding a center channel for L7 magic. (i like that thread since it seems to make things nice and simple for me, but wanted to see how applicable it is for my car.)

couple of questions off the bat:
1. how do the internal amps of the ms8 compare with the stock HiFi amp (discussed above)? i can't seem to find RMS specs for either. they seem similar.
2. kaigoss69 seems to like the stock oem EPS speakers from one of his cars (i find the oem stereo option names/specs confusing... his stock speakers sound like they may be an M3 option only?),. i have whatever speakers came stock with HiFi in a 2011 e92, and am not sure how they compare with the EPS ones kai likes. (particularly the underseats, which i would consider amping a la his "config #1b") how do HiFi speakers stack up to EPS ones? could oem EPS speakers be used as a cost effective "upgrade" to my stock HiFi ones?

*edit*
ok, just found this thread describing part numbers for 3 levels of OEM speakers: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227528 this project is going to be a bit more of a rabbit hole than i thought! back to search...

Good find - there are actually 4, (crappy base-stereo) but you're otherwise on track.

It is Technic, not kaigoss who uses EPS speakers

MS-8 will give cleaner power than HiFi amp - probably has a bit more headroom because of use of active crossovers.

ah, of course, apologies to Technic! i think i got one of his projects confused with a kaigoss post. thanks for comment on ms-8 amps vs. hifi amp.

Technic also set me straight with which IA coax speaker i needed for my e92 rear quarter panels (need the one from the e90 sedan rear door).

is the ms-8 able to make different speaker types (like Individual Audio and Focal) work well together? i may have a used source for the OEM IA components in the front, but if that falls through, i was wondering if the Focal IFBMW-S would work well with the IA coax speakers i now know will fit in the rear quarters. (assuming the IFBMW-S will really fit in the e92 doors that is. i've only seen hearsay that they will, and Focal does not list e92 in their compatibility list, but also says list is non-exhaustive)

Generlly yes, ms-8 uses 8 bands of parametric eq per individual channel to reach its target curve: result being that it can help to normalize peaks and valleys of a particular speaker design. I don't know of too many of us regulars who have the focal set, but i cant really speak ill of them either. There are lots of options,

I woulds say now that you are on track, start your own build thread from here and we will chime in as appropriate. When you do that, list your goals, budget, etc

If you are using stock speaker its 0 for the doors

If you are using stock speaker its 0 for the doors.
The under seats can be turned up a 1/3 to 1/2

The following is with morels in the front doors and Jehnerts in the floors
stock speakers in back.

The M version has additional anti-corrosion provisions to the best of my knowledge; electronically: No.

I have e90 LCI with navi business + Gladen w210 Extreme + JL Audio XD600/6 - everything would be fine ... but I have a noise in the front speakers, volume level set to zero and still hiss. When i conected my iphone via RCA - silent. I think my HU (navi) is shit. I read that changing the HU will help - if anyone can confirm ??

So my JL XD600/6 is on the way, also the harnesss.

My audio setup is:

sub: Audio System X--ION BMW 200
front: Audio system X--ION BMW 200
http://www.audio-system.de/special_compos_bmw_en.html

rear: BMW individual (yellow kevlar)

how should I set the amp? cross overs? gain?

Hello,
today Technic harness has come. At begining everything was supeeeerr...but now, i think my subs are blowed up. In low volume subs are fine...but when adding volume, mids and tweet goes up...but the subs going low...

my xd600/6 settings:

front, rear: minimum gain , 170hz
subs: 9 clock gain, 200hz

//edit:
the whole audio is strange. When I put back original amplifier SUBS are barely noticible. When I put back JL amp and raising volume... audio is very distorded, noisy, loosing energy, withou bass..and only high freq are screaming ...
dont know what to do

I was just wondering, do the door speakers and tweeters you get in the alpine retrofit kit also fit in the rear deck? I think I remember reading the rear parcel shelf speakers are 100mm but the alpine kit doesn't replace them, so I thought about ordering the speakers on their own and putting them in additionally.

If anyone is interested in upgrading their base speaker setup, I'm selling my like new kit that I purchased from Technic. I had for only 3 months before removing to try and add to 2011 X5, but went a different direction. PM me if you want to know more. It's total plug and play.
