Does anyone in the chicago area have the ability to do coding? My car started folding the mirrors, when I open the door, out of the blue, a few days ago. It's very annoying since I have one of those exorcist mirrors that keeps folding past the set point. I think we can turn off folding mirrors using the BT tool?, or some other coding thing that folks have. Can anyone help me?

So starting the search for a new car for the wife now. timeline prolly spring. She is making me nuts already.

Starts by these criteria:

SUV because she likes to sit high
But not too big
Fuel economy still important, Diesel would be nice
Some sort of AWD
Comfy enough for long trips yet practical as a dd because it will replace both the accord and the odyssey
Price not really a major issue, prefer lightly used
Reliable
nimble and fast

So, start trying to whittle down and do a little research. Obviously the above is a wish list and not really practical to hit on all points effectively.

Thinking VW Tiguan/Toureg, Audi Q5, Infiniti FX, Volvo XC 70, Acura MDX....

So started showing her some stuff on the tiguan and Toureg...ok, cool, especially the TDI. She starts looking at things herself...OOOOoooo look, the passat TDI is under $300/month....facepalm.

Al crumples papers and starts over....

I think the best value of the bunch is the Volvo, then the Acura. The VW content wise I think is overpriced, especially compared to some Detroit models, afterall, if Detroit does one thing well, its SUV's. The Q5 resale is like the A5, high demand for preowned. The FX you have to drive, its cool, but not for everyone...you will see when you drive it, or let her drive it. What about a Grand Cherokee? I think they are a lot bang for the buck, and you can tow, off road and its safe...

Ha...let me know what you find b/c I've been looking for my wife for two yrs ! She loves her '05 MDX and she's been driving it for 6+ yrs and now has 105K mi. She is short so she likes to sit high, but she hates the new MDX. The problem we found is you cannot see out of the back (blind spots) in most of these SUVs. I offered the X1 or X3, but she is not fond of the BMWs. GL

LOL

I'd like to get wife into a BMW some day but when I see her take turns where the rear tire hits the curb causing the back side of the car to slide out I think "I'd rather not have a guaranteed repair bill every month.
