Ok, I guess I got too excited and called the dealer and ordered one, little that I knew about other suppliers selling for cheaper, I will call dealer tomorrow to cancel as they want $91 for the part versus 59 at crown ( found the site), wonder if dealer can cancel even though I gave them my CC over the phone!

Great Modification! I am bringing this fall 330iC to Europe and I have to have the rear foglight. I thought that I have to install extra switch and run a wire to the taillights. THANKS!

I saw it yesterday but didn't think to push it done. And it's obvious that the grey lock has one way to go since you can see the lock type of mechanism latching from the side. So this 15-20 min mod took me a collective 45mins?

I've attached photos of the grey lock and what I'm referring to for future DIY'ers

GOOD NEWS: you can turn the rear fogs on separately. This was mentioned in this thread and someone said they did it w/o having the front ones on. Well I was able to do so by following these steps:
  1. Press front fog button (turn on)
  2. Press rear fog button (turn on)
  3. Press front fog button again (turn off)
  4. Rear fogs remain on (see photo below)
edit #2: when I wrote the above steps for rear fogs I had the engine off. When I finally turned the engine on and drove around, turns out I can simply press the rear fog button and it came on w/o needing to press anything else. So maybe some cars can and others can't

*edit #1: woops, the right spelling is "depressible" in the pic but oh well
Thanks a million for the photos of how to release the lock! I was stumped by it for a while and was looking through this thread over and over again. If you had been within a 25 mile radius I would have gotten you a beer!

About turning the rear fogs separately, this is what I noticed:
1. With the headlight switch in auto position and engine on:
Must turn front fogs on before rear fogs can be turned on. Switching off front fogs automatically turns off rear fogs. Don't know yet if the headlights need to come on for this sequence to work - mine did since I was in the garage, did not test in sunlight yet.
2. With the switch in on position:
Can turn on and off the front and rear fogs separately

Cool, glad they helped Thanks for the extra info on the rear fogs sequence and the switch position. I'll have to play with that. I think mine were in auto, I rarely change it.

My front and rear fogs work independently, I can have just the front on or just the rears on. I wonder why this is different for each car?

On a side note, the headlights have to be on for either to work.

very very strange.. when i first did this mod about 5-6 weeks ago, i had to turn on the font fogs in order to get the rears to turn on.. Anyway, i hadnt used the rear fogs for a while and to my surprise, today, i was suddenly able to switch on the rears independently of the fronts (switch is set to auto). Bizarre, means it takes a while for the car to learn that you have rear fogs and adjusts over time....

So you ordered the euro fog lights? You realize you just posted that in a thread that shows you how to do it for free right?

Necessity is the mother of invention. Many of us get excited about DIY's because it brings out the creativity in solving the problem at hand. Whether its balsa wood and a tongue depresser or a pencil and a penny, they all do the same thing. Sorry you dont have that quality in you and you only see mods as something you can buy.
